Chapter Thirty-Three: Golden Hair and Aqua Blue Maiden!

As the beast extended its paw towards me, I closed my eyes. I was proud of myself for not giving up and at least trying to outsmart the demonic creature. I now knew that my death in this world was inevitable. A failure like me just wasn’t cut out to be a God. I felt as peace. I wanted to enjoy the last few seconds of my life not being afraid, I’d spent half my life worrying but I didn’t want to end it in the same way.

I heard the sound of the beasts paws piercing through the wind until it came to a sharp halt. A sudden clash vibrated through the air sending out a shockwave that sent me tumbling backwards. I gripped myself to the ground, digging my fingertips into the soil. I slowly looked up. Perhaps it was Maya!

“Maya... Maya is that you?” I whimpered out nervously. A series of waves buzzed through the air, pulsating every few seconds. I stood up to my knees in shock. It wasn’t Maya. It was a girl. Well, at least I thought it was a girl, she looked like a goddess. Her hair was a shimmering gold, neatly separated into two long ponytails. She danced around elegantly with two dagger-like objects in her hand. Jumping and spinning and spiralling around the beast. Dodging and blocking and cutting the beast. So strong yet so elegant. I wanted to help but I was hypnotised by her golden locks that waved around as she fought for me. She vaulted herself off the ground and into the air, slashing the beast around its alluring eyes and finally stomping onto its forehead with incredible force and precision. After the attack she leaped off the beast pushing against it with all her might and sending its tired body hurtling into the dark woods. She landed elegantly on her feet and withdrew her daggers back into two small pouches that sat at her sides.

Her clothing was quit laconic. She wore dirty cream shorts under the pouches and a cream short sleeved crop top. She wore a thin skin coloured layer of tights under the shorts followed by a pair of brown leather boots that lingered under her knees. She had a strange dark coloured band around her arm and dirty gloves that were missing their fingertips. Her hair split off like horns and then cascaded down to her lower back. Her skin was quite dirty but her pale skin remained visible.

I took a step forward, the sound of twigs crunching under my foot. Her head immediately turned half way but her hair still blocked me from getting a clear view of her face. Before I could say a word, the beast roared in the distance. Without haste she pulled out her dagger and ran towards the sound. I briskly ran after her, curious as to why she helped me. Was she a God Candidate too?

As she ran, I noticed just how compressed she was in height, I was about five foot ten and she was about five foot three. She was very nibble on her feet and her steps were as silent as the beast was loud, but her speed was nothing compared to mine. Soon enough I caught up almost neck and neck with her but as I turned to face her, she pushed me out of the way, saving we from the charging beast that I had not noticed. Her reaction time was impressive, even if I had seen the beast; I doubted I could have reacted as fast as she did. She hadn’t spoken a single word yet but I knew she was strong, she had to be a good person too since she was helping me.

I rolled over and stabilized myself on all fours. I looked up and observed her battle, her technique as dazzling as ever. Out of the blue her blades began to shine an azure colour. I flinched. I glared in amazement as I saw her body liquefy and turn into water. The body of water sunk to the floor as the beast swung but quickly resurfaced but this time, it had divided. I counted ten humanoid bodies of water surrounding the great beast. The water began to morph and develop. Soon they all looked exactly like the girl. Completely identical in every way, even in battle stance. The beast roared in aggravation and confusion, the odds had turned and now it was being hunted. The bodies of water all began to run around the beast, faster and faster. Cutting and immobilising the beast. The girls began to join together. A small wall of water now spiralled around the beast. The beast swung its head in frustrating; its legs had been too damaged for it to run. The wall of water slowly grew in height, getting taller and taller until a vortex of water had been achieved. The water became more violent filling the space within its walls. The beast was drowning, spiralling and twisting as fast as the water moved. Small shocks of electricity shot through the water as the beast fought back but it was too late. The water spat out the beast, sending it flying into the tree tops. I looked up waiting of it to return to the ground but it had been propelled with such force that it would probably land somewhere else.

The water began to gather until it reformed again. Soon the girl was standing there before me. I simply stared in amazement, what an incredible display of power. She turned around and stared at me. Her eyes were a pure blue, just as blue as the water she controlled. She walked towards me and smiled...”Hello Arc!”
