Yesung
I walk towards the hospital where Seungri works. It has come to my knowledge that the archangels already knew about what's going on between Jinnie and him. What happened at the harbor was something the archangels would never reckon with, and they're very much wise to know just about everything. And the thought of Rafael having the idea of Jinnie falling for a human had made me terribly worried. Only the problem is, I won't be able to protect her now because I need to leave and settle another important matter. With that, I've made up my mind. Even if I do not want this, even if what I'm about to do is something that I loathe, I have to do this. I have to talk with Seungri and ask him to protect Jinnie for me. He has to protect her from now on. I let out a heavy sigh.
Eventhough she would never feel the same way towards me and that she chose Seungri over me nothing has changed. I still love her. And it's really unsettling that I have to leave her. I'm trying to assure myself that Seungri can protect her and I have to trust him on doing that.
I'm still a block away from the hospital when a chill ran down my spine and I stopped walking. My senses went alert as I scan the surroundings, my heart pumping harder and harder by the minute. I try to determine why all of a sudden I felt something's not right. We only feel like this when an unearthly creature is nearby but I cannot see a daemon anywhere. I look around in perplexity. I continue to walk slowly.
I sucked up some air when my eyes focused on someone standing a few feet away from me, leaning on a lamp post just around the corner of the street. He looks at me, both hands inside the pockets of his khaki pants and smiled as some of his hair covered his face because of the wind. He motioned for me to come over. I pressed my lips and nod my head and walked towards that person.
"Azrael." I acknowledge him with a nod.
A corner of Azrael's lips twitched into a grin. The archangel of death looks like a normal human being in the eyes of the people passing by but I know better. Even if he's not in his real form, his algid gray eyes proves who he really is.
"It's been a while, Yeshiel." Azrael's cold voice slithered in my ears. I do not respond and he lets out a chuckle. "Where are you heading?" He asks me.
"On my way to see someone I have to talk to." I answer.
Azrael lazily stood up in front of me and studied my face for awhile. "Aren't you even going to ask me why I'm here?"
My eyebrows creased. Of course I know why. He's here to take the soul of someone who's about to die and bring it to Abathar, the archangel responsible for the weighing of souls.
"Someone will die I know." I answer him.
"Yes, true. But what's more interesting is that, you personally know who it is." Azrael grins mischievously. "Something enthralling is about to happen."
"Jinn.." I whispered, awfully terrified and about to run to find her.
"Yeshiel, she's going to the hospital." Azrael told me.
"How did you know?" I ask him, frightened. "What are you planning to do with her?!"
Azrael grins. "See you later Grigori." With that he disappears in front of me. I saw him again in the crowd, walking towards the hospital and waves a hand at me. That's when I started running.
I ran towards the hospital in a rush. All I can think of is Jinn. Nothing matters to me except her. I ran with gritted teeth, hoping that I'll make it on time to see her.
I took a last turn and the hospital came into view. I stopped for awhile to catch my breath and feel her presence. I smile a bit as I saw her, standing face to face with Seungri just outside the hospital, alive and talking.
"Thank heavens.." I muttered. I'm at the other side of the street, a bit far from them to see me. I inhaled deeply. She's fine. Thank God.
Just then I see Azrael, his back leaning on a black convertible a few steps away from Jinnie and Seungri. He winks at me and that's when it happened.
A girl called Jinnie and Seungri from the opposite side of the street with her headphones on. She's smiling and waving at them and crossed the street not aware of a speeding mini van that's about to hit her. Everything that happened next was fast. Seungri ran towards her and pushed her back towards the pavement and the vehicle hit him. It sent him tumbling at least five feet from where he had stood. I hear Jinnie scream and saw her ran towards him.
"Jinn!" I shout and started running towards her. She's screaming his name and cradling him in his arms. "Jinn!" I yell at her. The girl whom Seungri had pushed is also there now, kneeling and crying and clasping her mouth.
"Seungri! Seungri, no!" Jinnie screams. Azrael watches us behind the crowd of bystanders who saw the incident.
"Jinnie, Azrael is here." I tell her once I reached her.
Jinnie looks at me, her eyes wild and unknowing. Like she's about to do something impermissible. "Jinn, don't--"
Jinnie shakes her head. "I'm sorry, Yesung.."
"No!" I shout. Before I could stop her she placed her hands on top of his chest.
