The shadow beast blared its foul, warm breath into your face, causing you to stir awake. It glared down at you with its glowing, red eyes as it's jaws ripped open revealing very sharp, black teeth. The foul stench of its breath hit you once again as a black substance seemed to drip out of its mouth almost like drool.

You tried to draw away from it, but the coolness to your back revealed that you would be going no where any time soon. When you tried to push it away as it drew near, you could barely reach out because of the cuffs attached to your wrists. It was another reminder that you would be staying right where you were.

You closed your eyes tightly as it grew so near that you were practically sharing the same air. However, as you waited for a bite that never happened, you heard a low whistle and soon the hot air was gone, replaced with the cold dampness that invaded the area.

You quickly open your eyes to see the last being you ever expected.

Pitch stares down at you with a cold, cruel smile on his face. You could feel the happiness draining out of you from just staring at him for so long. It took you a moment to realize that it was exactly what he was doing.

He was taking away all your warmth, your happiness, any good feeling you had and you knew even without asking him what he was doing.

He was turning you into one of his shadows.

That was one of the most unspeakable acts of a guardian. Of any guardian, because even though Pitch doesn't have a title to his name, he was still a guardian of the night. And to turn a human into a shadow being was almost another form of death.

The look on your face must reveal to him that you knew of his plot because the smile on his face grew more frightening as it stretched from ear to ear. Almost as if it were a Cheshire grin.

"My, I knew you were smart. Humans are such fragile creatures, they can be broken in a mere instant, but quite a few of them have an intelligence that surpasses even the guardians' own mindset. So tell me little human, what drew my shadow's attention towards you when we set foot on the battle field? And why were you with them to begin with?" Pitch asked in a husky tone that almost seemed hushed.

It was in that moment that your mind drifted back to the scene that brought you here in the first place.

A plan was thought out and was to be set in motion. The Guardians were to lure the creature towards you, blocking its path of escape in every direction. It would be drawn to you by an open cut in your palm. And before the beat could even lay a claw on you, you would bring it down (with Jacky's help of course) the way your father had taught you.

You found it a bittersweet justice that his lessons would be the course of action to end the thing that killed him.

You were smiling to yourself as you rode on the shoulder of one of Claus' abdominal snowmen as Jacky drew nearer, seeming concerned by the look of hatred and malice in your eyes.

"(Y/N)? Is everything alright?" The tone in her voice made your heart squeeze in your chest.

It was full of concern and of all the love in the world that she had for you. It was almost enough to make you forget the whole revenge scheme.

But then memory of your father's death to the constant pain of your wounds to the look of sadness and grief on your mother and sibling's faces every morning, reminds you that it deserved what was coming to it.

"I'm fine Jacky, I'm just ready for this to be over" You admit to her as the group drew closer to the scene of the crime.

The spot where your father bleed out to death was still there, you flinched at the sight of it. The memory flashed before your eyes and you had to turn away before you puked.
