"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the marriage of Mr. Chris de Vil and Mr/Miss. (Y/f/n) (y/l/n). Love is precious, love is kind and over the last few months, I have seen these two grow in love. This union means that they want to take their love one step further by speaking their vows and having all of you here to witness it ...." the words of your friend, Casper had drifted away from you as you smile happily at the man across from you who was holding your hands in his.

He smiles back at you, the adorable dimple in his cheek making you blush immensely, but it made you happy nonetheless. For you loved Chris and you were thrilled when he asked you to marry him.

It had happened out of the blue when the two of you were out on a date. You were at your favorite coffee shop and it was poetry night. He had wanted to go so that you could hear one of his poems, but you had no idea of what his true intentions were.

When he got on the stage that night, he looked more nervous than usual and even seemed to be giddy. You gave him a smile of encouragement and a thumbs up as he looks over to you, nodding before he clears his throat to gain everyone's attention.

"Hello, my name is Chris and this is my first time sharing one of my poems in public. But I would like to dedicate this to the love of my life, (y/f/n) (y/l/n)" He says pointing over to you with compassion in his eyes and a warmth in his smile.

The crowd had awed and some even clapped for him. However, they all became silent the moment he started to speak again.

'His/Her smile is like a warm sunny day.
It is my shining light through the rain.
If one were to compare it to the flowers that bloom in May,
It is just as pretty and can always take away my pain.
Is it wrong to love such a creature when I am vain?
Perhaps, but his/her touch is so gentle and pure,
That it could trick death after I am slain
And bring me back to a love that is my cure.
When all is said and done, he/she is the only one for me.
And maybe I'm selfish and maybe I'm blind,
But would it be wrong to ask if you will marry me
And forever be mine?'

He looks up at you at you when he says the last two lines, everyone in the room gasps and looks your way. You were blushing deep red with your mouth in an 'o' shape.

You couldn't believe that he asked you in front of all these strangers, nor could you stop the tears of happiness as you nod your head and rush over to him.

"Yes! Yes! A million times, yes!" You say as you jump into his arms and kiss him deeply.

Everyone in the cafe cheers and claps happily for the two of you. Once you broke away from your embrace, people began to walk up and congratulate you and give you hugs. The all introduce themselves to you and even ask to buy the two of you a dessert or a coffee.

You seemed happy and Chris was a little embarrassed because he still couldn't believe that he managed to do something like this in public.

That was just a few weeks ago. The two of you had decided on just having a little ceremony, nothing too fancy because it would mostly be your family that was coming, none of Chris' came.

That of course saddened you and Chris knew that. But you didn't know of his past, at least not the real one. He had told you that both his parents died in a car crash and that he never met any of his extended family while growing up in London.

He moved to the states just five months before he met you. He doesn't like to talk about his family and you don't want to pry him too much, but you couldn't help but feel that there was more to the story. That there was something he wasn't telling you.
