"And what are these called?" You asked Alex for the one hundredth time that day.
"Those are Tiger Lilies, but be careful, they carry a mean bite, much like these Dandelions over here" he says pointing to the the flower with the little white things that you used to blow into the wind to make a wish on.
"But I thought you said they only did that when we are smaller than them?" You ask, caressing the white bud.
You instantly regret it the moment you feel a sharp prick on your finger. You yelp and quickly pulls your hand away from the all too innocent looking flower.
Alex chuckles and shakes his head as he pulls a bandage out of the pocket of his trousers and beckons you to let him see your finger to inspect it.
"Dandelions are fierce, wild and can even be sometimes dangerous flowers" he says with a smile as he places the bandaid onto your finger and presses down on it a bit to help the bleeding to stop.
He didn't give your hand back until he pressed a tiny kiss on the bandage while smiling up at you with a slight blush on his face.
You blush deeply and quickly pull your hand out of his as you turn your attention anywhere other than his gorgeous blue eyes.
He made you feel vulnerable and a bit flustered, he was even able to do that to you when you both were younger. You use to wonder what the feelings were that you held deep inside of you use to be whenever you spent time with him. As you two matured and things began to change, and as he grew into his deep voice and height, you soon began to realize that the feelings you felt were love.
You realized it on a beautiful day in April. You and Alex had went to visit your grandmother for it was the weekend and you only ever got to see her on holidays.
She had made all your favorite foods, which ironically was all of Alex's favorites as well. Nothing could beat your grandmother's cooking, it was as if she put every ounce of love she could muster into what she baked and boiled and fried. It made you feel welcomed and loved as well.
However, it was on these days especially when Alex began to miss his Gram who lived in Australia. He would go to her house every summer to visit her, but because he didn't want to leave you, he stayed fearing that if he left you for an instant, he would lose you.
Of course he has never told you this for it was always just a feeling he had. But you two grew closer because of it and it made your friendship even stronger even though you would scold him for being so stupid, claiming that you would be fine for a couple of weeks without him.
However, your feelings soon began to grow, until you realized that even the slightest touch from him made your skin tingle. Your body would go weak everytime he smiled or even laughed. Your breath would grow shorter whenever he would give you that look.
It was a look that held secrets and desires that seemed to be only shared with you. Of course you had a secret of your own that leaned more towards the desires you had for him. But the desires lead to wonder and before you two went back to school, you had decided to tell him of your feelings for him.
You had wanted to tell him after he had kissed you in the flower field behind your house. However, that night was also the night that your brother did those horrible things to you and with Alex nowhere to be seen, your feelings for him had almost ended there that night.
But since you stumbled (more like fallen) into wonderland and had rekindled your friendship with him, you were noticing more and more that the feelings of love that you once had for him were resurfacing. This time though, they were fiercer and more heated. They made you feel giddy and a bit unsure, but above all else, they made you feel more alive than you have ever been since that horrible incident.
