You swam as fast as you could. The shark gaining momentum every time you looked back. You should've heeded your brother's warning to not go near Shark Bites Cove, but that was where you collected all your trinkets from the world above the water. To you, each item you collected was special and/or beautiful. They made you wonder what else the human world had to offer.

You looked back one last time and saw that the shark was nowhere to be found. You came to a steady halt and breathed in a sigh of relief, well that was until you turned around and crashed into his nose.

You backed away slowly as his lips stretched to reveal a murderous smile. You knew that if you either didn't escape or someone doesn't come save you, then you were going to die.

He lunged at you with his mouth wide open. You closed your eyes, waiting for death to come. But it never did. You quickly opened your eyes and saw a figure with octopus tentacles for a tail, wrestling with the shark. You watched as the figure threw the 500lb shark into one of the sunken ships. The shark whimpered and swam away.

The figure then turned in your direction. You smiled at the approaching figure, but the smile soon turned into a frown when you saw who it was. Ursal, the sea-wizard, had saved your life for reasons unknown, and probably for reasons you didn't want to find out.

You turned to swim away, but your were pulled back by your waist and held against something warm. You turned your head and saw that he was starring down at you with his beautiful stormy gray eyes.

"What are you doing way out here? Don't you know that this part of the ocean is dangerous?" His eyes seemed to glow when he said the word 'dangerous'.

You rolled your eyes, because all of your life, your brother and the elders have told you to never come near this place, and not one of those times did you listen. So what gave this stranger, this warlock, the right to tell you not to come here? It made you both angry and irritated for him to think that he had any power over you.

You broke away from him and glared at him. He just starred at you with narrowed eyes. It was almost as of he was judging if you were either brave or just plan stupid.

"I don't know you, and you sure as hell don't know me, so just leave me alone. And why I come here is my business, which means it's none of yours. So stay away from me." You turned away and swam in the direction that the shark had chased you in.

You heard someone swim up beside you. You looked to your left and saw that he was there. You stopped in your flow, causing him to stop just a few feet ahead of you. He turned around and looked at you in confusion.

You glared at him.

"Why are you following me?" You asked him in a harsh voice.

His smile was sexy yet diabolical, it made you both flustered and scared.

"Because you shouldn't go look for 'treasures' on your own. Especially since you're so small and adorable, you would probably attract even more sharks. But who can blame them, you do look tasty." He swam to you and got all up in your personal space.

He leaned in close to you and sniffed your neck. He pulled back and smiled down at you with interest in his eyes.

"You do smell good, but I wonder if you taste good." He licked his lips and tried to get in your personal space again.

You backed away from him before he could even touch you.

"Not in your life time creep." You began to swim once again to retrieve what you had dropped in one of the abandoned ships that you passed by when the shark began to chase you.

You swam down in between the broken boards of the ship. It was dark and held little light, but there was just enough for you to be able to see the object that you dropped.

You swam down towards it and picked up the shiny object. It was round and painted gold. At the top was a button. You pressed down on the button, which caused the shiny object to open.

You saw a capital N, E, S, and W at the top, bottom, left, and right sides of the shiny object. In the middle was a little red arrow pointing in between th N and the E. It seemed strange and foreign to you, but not to the nosy creature that wouldn't seem to leave you alone.

"You've found a compass." He said as he stares down at the object in your hand.

"A com-pass? What's a com-pass?" You looked up at him with furrowed eyebrows.

He chuckled at the way you said the word.

"You don't say the word separately. And a compass tells you which direction your going. N stands for north, E stands for east, S stands for south, and W stands for west. The arrow is suppose to change whenever you swim in a different direction." He explained to you.

You looked down at the trinket and snapped it shut. This was definitely worth entering a place infested with sharks, but your aquantance didn't think so.

"You got chased by a shark because of that?" He asked you skeptically.

You looked at him and saw that he was looking at you with narrowed eyes. He was judging you, that much you knew, but to be judge by someone you barely even knew, it made you feel vulnerable.

You glared at him and tried to hold back your tears. All of your life, you were seen as nothing more than a mermaid/merman who loved the thought of adventure and wondered just what it would be like to be on the other side of the ocean's surface. That untimely caused people to judge you and make you feel like nothing more than a foolish child.

But you were no longer a child and your fascination with the human world and it's objects has grown. Thus making you an even bigger outsider to your people. So you didn't have to float there only to be judged by a person who has been judged his whole life.

"To you it may seem like nothing more than a worthless piece of trash, but to me, it's much more." You turned away from him and swam your way out of the ship.

The tears that had threatened to fall earlier began to stream down your face. The moment that you were out of the dark, you felt something latch onto your arm and pulled you back.

You looked up and saw him looking down at you with wide eyes. He made you cry, that was the one thing that no-one has ever made you do before, so you didn't know why you were now, it was probably when he looked at you the way he did, you would never have thought that a person like him would be judgy too.

"Why are you crying? What did I do?" He asked you gently.

Tears began to flow down your face even more. He didn't know what he did wrong, that's what made this situation that much more heart breaking.

"You , the one person who I thought wouldn't judge others because you yourself have been judged your whole life also, had just judged me." You said as you yanked your arm away from his grip.

He looked at you with a furrowed brow as his arm fell back by his side.

"Ever since I was little, I had a fascination for things from the human world. My elders thought it was just a phase, they played along with ny childishness. But as I grew older they began to realize that it wasn't a phase. My brother said that what I was doing was dangerous and that my dreams were childish. He was the one person who I thought wouldn't treat me like a child. And now here you are doing exactly what the others were doing. So just leave me alone." You swam away as fast as your tail could take you.

You left him there feeling stupid for judging while he himself has been judged ever since he could cast spells. How you knew that he had been judged was beyond him.

He had never ment to judge you, the truth behind the reason for him following you the entire day was because he was secretly in love with you.

But because of his wicked heart, that was something that he will never admit.
