You look down at yourself and notice that you yourself were wearing a silk robe of white. You quickly stand as the woman before you walks towards you with the same warm and familiar smile on her face.

"Hello, (y/ n). You've grown into such a wonderful person. I'm so proud of you honey" She says in her gentle voice she always carried, even when she was angry, her voice would never rise.

Tears threaten your eyes as you avoided her gaze, feeling like more of a coward. Soon enough, you were forced to look up at her when she gently grabs your chin and lifts it until your gaze was aligned with hers. Her now golden eyes stared back at you with so much sadness and pain in their depths that you didn't realize that you were crying until she brushes some of your tears away.

She smiles sadly at you, knowing what you have been through because she was watching over you all this time. She was afraid that one day there would come a time where you would need her help and not John's. Unfortunately, she did not see this coming. You being there with her rather than being with the ones you loved and left behind. She knew what she had to do for you, she only hopes that you chose the right choice.

"I know things may seem bad now, you lost a lot of blood, so much so in fact that you ended up here" she explains to you as she takes your hand and walks over with you to a white bench with golden swirls for the legs and pats the seat beside her.

You looked around curiously, not seeing much of anything other than just a constant brightness that wasn't so bright that it blinded you. However, you knew that the two of you weren't alone. Even though you couldn't see them or hear them, you could feel their presence. But perhaps it is the angel before you who decided that it would be best if it were the two of you.

"Is this heaven?" You ask her before taking the seat she offered you just second ago. As you sat down, memories from your past happened before your eyes, almost like a play. You watch as a younger version of yourself, roughly about seven years old, chases after a thirteen year old John as he had taken your favorite book.

"This is what we call 'the Veil' it is the place where those whose time has stopped unexpectedly are asked to make a choice. Right now you are seeing memories from your childhood, correct?" Your mother asks you with a knowing smile as if she has done this many times before. Of course she probably didn't think she would have to do this for one of her children so early in their lives.

"Y-Yes but how i-is this possible?!" You ask her curiously as you look up at her with wide eyes. You merely earned a smile from her and a pat on your hand which was now clutching your rob tightly, mostly out of fear because the thought of you dying and coming here was still fresh on your mind.

"You're not dead yet my sweet (y/n), but you must make a choice, you may either return to your life and live your days until it is finally your time, or you can join the rest of our family on the other side" She says smiling sadly as her gaze was focused on the ground.

You couldn't help but wonder what she was leaving out, your mother wasn't the secretive type and she couldn't keep a secret even if her life depended on it. You also couldn't help but wonder why she seemed so sad, as if she knew what your decision would be. You too look to your feet and think about your life so far and how you have barely even begun to live.

You think back to when your brother found out about what your cousin had done and what he planned on doing. You go further back to the time when you fell from a tree, having climbed too high and how John had to carry you on his back the entire three miles home because you had broken your leg. You smile fondly at how you bickered through the pain and how John would retort back by the eating to cut your hair with the hunting knives your father had collected before he died.
