You sighed as you watched your brother chop up wood for the fire tonight. Each time the sharp blade of his ax broke into the wood and made a crunching sound, you flinched. Why he insisted on bringing you out here, you didn't know, because the only thing you were good at was finding foreign objects.

You could be wondering who your brother is exactly. Your brother is the highly successful, extremely handsome John Smith. Yes, the John Smith is your brother. He also had become your legal guardian after your parents died.

You and John were born five years apart, thus it was hard for the both of you to get along. He had always been the favorite child, well that was until you came along.

Your parents had changed from only loving him to loving the both of you with an equal amount of love, but when they had to show you more attention that him, because after all you were a baby, he became jealous. When you were finally of the talking age, he didn't want to have anything to do with you, well that was until you had called him 'brother' for the first time.

It was your first word because while your parent were at work, he would have to watch you. So naturally it would be that word that would come out of your mouth first. And the moment that you had said it, was the moment that he realized that he was being nothing more than mean and childish towards you.

So from that moment on, he became the big brother he should've been from the start. He would make you laugh whenever you had came home crying because you were being picked on at school. He would bring home foreign yet beautiful objects from all his adventures that he would endure that week because he knew that it would fuel your fascination until it needed to be fueled once again.

John had always thought that you would achieve greatness because you could see the beauty buried deep inside the objects that he brought you, even if some of them were the most ugliest objects he's ever seen. And whenever you looked out into the world, you didn't see unfairness, war, and vengence; you saw rebellions, helpfulness, and potential.

That's why you would always seem to surprise him with the actions you take and the words you say, but not once has he seen you as venerable as you were when your parents died. The news of their deaths had made your heart break, almost to the point that you had almost died also.

You were so broken that you wouldn't eat or sleep, and every time John had tried to cheer you up, it only made things worse. The reason why it had hurt so much was because they had died on your fifteenth birthday. From that day on, your birthday will also be remembered as the day that your world had finally shattered.

It had taken three years for you to finally get over it. Within those three years, John had given you the space you needed, but under the conditions that you would at least read and sleep. You agreed to it and he kept his end of the bargain, but only to the point that he couldn't take the silence any longer.

On the day before your eighteenth birthday Your brother had told you something that you would never forget.

~ Flashback ~

"(Y/n) , we need to talk." He told you as soon as he walked into your room uninvited, which is something he has made a habit of whenever he was about to teach you a life lesson

You looked up at him with innocent eyes after you had folded down the corner of a page from the book you were reading. The sadness written all over his face, had made your already pale skin turn even paler. You always knew what he wanted to talk to you about, however, you didn't think it would be so soon.

"Aunt Claire and I have been talking and we think it would be best that you go and live with her." What he said had made the book that was sitting on your lap, fall from your hands and land onto the floor.
