Chapter 39

Klaus squeezes jules's blood into the bowl of flames. my eyes just watch as I slowly make my way down to Jenna and Elena. taking my time until after their heart warming chat, I sit down.

"I'm sorry for anything I have done... I was looking out for myself. you have no idea what it is like to run for over 900 years." I state and Elena gives me a soft smile.

"I forgive you." she says and I glance at jenna who looks shocked.

"I forgive you and over 900 years?" I nod before sighing.

"I better get to klaus." they nod and I slowly walk back up, klaus smirking at me.

Soon after, he approaches the ring with Jenna in, making Elena's tears flood down her face.

"Hello jenna." klaus says as the pair get up.

"Let her go. I understand that I have to die.. but she doesn't!" Elena shouts and I feel a tear slip down my face at he scene. The girl tries to walk closer to the flames but they rise, making her stumble back.

"Careful." klaus mocks before turning back to jenna.

"Elena. dont." Jenna says.

"No Jenna! We can't leave Jeremy without a family!" Elena shouts before turning to klaus. "I followed your rules; I did everything you asked. I didn't run. please." she begs. I hear a stone drop from the cliff and I look up to see stefan. I frown at him and I know klaus has noticed to.

"Well well." Niklaus looks up. "I don't recall you being on the guest list." he says.

"Im here to talk!" Stefan shouts and I shake my head. please no.

"Very well, them." klaus vamp speeds to me and strokes my cheek. "sit here like the good girl you are don't try anything that will get you in trouble." I nod my head, sitting down before he vamp-speeds to stefan. my eyes watch them before tuning to Elena.

"What's going on?" Jenna asks and Elena shrugs.

"I-I don't know!" She replies worried. "angel, can you hear them?" I shake my head and she frowns. "W-why not?" I look down. "he compelled you..." she drifts off but I am unable to say. all I want to do is listen in but I cant.

"Jenna, you can hear them. you can hear anything! Just focus on them!" Elena exclaims.

"What are they saying?" Elena whispers but I can just pick it up. but just them.

"I-I cant make it out." Jenna says as she brushes her hair behind her ear.

"You can do this. just relax. focus." Elena encourages. Jenna's face brightens up.

"I can hear them. I can hear stefan." She says and Elena smiles slightly.

"What are they saying?" Se asks and then Jenna frowns.

"Oh my god." this can't be good.

"What is it?" I ask, knowing that that is probably the only thing I'll be able to say.

"He wants to take my place." she says and I whimper. Elena's face falls as we all look up at stefan.

The boys come down from the cliff and klaus crouches down in front of me and places a finger under my chin.

"You can stand now." He says and I slowly rise. Stefan and him walk down to Jenna and Elena and I follow.

"Quite the predicament. you know, it's funny, all this talk about preserving family, and here is stefan, granting your wish." klaus chuckles and I stand next to him. He wraps an arm around my waist, pulling me close. A shiver runs down my spine at our close approximation but I try my best to ignore it.
