Chapter 40

Angel's p.o.v

"Klaus!" My throat hurts as I stumble over to him. His eyes widen and frantic as everything is falling apart.

"Klaus!" I stumble in front of him as I find him lying against the rocks. The chanting stops and I trip, falling next to Niklaus. His eyes dart to me and then behind. I lie on my front next to him.

"Elijah." my heart beats faster in fear as I turn to see Elijah standing over us.

"Hello, Brother." Elijah replies before his eyes meet mine. "Angel." He crouches down and shoves his hand into Klaus's chest. I scream in pain as klaus looks at his older brother in fear.

"In the name of our family, niklaus..." Elijah says. I whimper as I roll over on to my front again, blood dripping from a gaping wound in my chest.

"I didn't bury them at sea!" Klaus shouts and Elijah frowns. "Their bodies are safe. if you kill me, you'll never find them." Klaus's eyes dart to me as tears stream down my cheeks as I clutch my chest in pain. what's happening?

"Niklaus..." I whimper and he looks back at elijah.

"Look at Evangelina. your soulmate bond has been adjusted. you can still kill her at will but, it's been linked into my life. If I live, she lives. if you Kill me, you kill her." my eyes widen at klaus. please no...

"Elijah! Don't listen to him!" I hear stefan shout and I feel like my heart has been twisted from my body. I scream in pain.

"Elijah... I can take you to them. I will make sure angel is safe from harm..... I give you my word... brother." klaus states and Elijah looks like he is having an inner battle.

"Elijah please...." I mutter as I place a bloodied hand on his arm. "I don't want to die." More tears stream down my face as I look at Elijah. memories from times before appear in my head. him catching me when I was drunk. him teaching me how to use a sword.... All before my parents died, before I turned 10 as we were closest.

"Do it an I'll take you all out." Bonnie shouts at us. blood already trickling from her nose.

"You'll die." Elijah states and she shakes her head. "she'll die."

"I don't care." bonnie insists. elijah looks at bonnie and stefan before me and klaus.

"I'm sorry." he mutters as he releases Klaus's heart. I sigh in relief as Elijah puts klaus over his shoulders and then me bridal style.

"No!" The pair cry as Elijah jumps.

I watch as klaus runs off, his body shifted.

"Are you okay?" I shake my head, looking down.

"I was on the brink of death. I nearly died Elijah. and when I try to think of anything... it comes up with niklaus, I feel like I owe him my life but I don't know why... I hate it." I mutter and Elijah pulls me into a hug. I cry into his suit as I return his embrace. "if klaus didn't have your family, would you still have killed him?" I ask.

"I would of... but I would have found away to brake of the connection between you too, if I knew that was going to happen." Elijah replies. "Damon Salvatore insisted on giving you this." I pull away and wipe my eyes.

"What is it?" I ask as I take a small envelope from Elijah. He shrugs.

"Open it." Slowly, I open the white paper to revile a note and a silver ring with diamonds. I take out the ring and pass it to Elijah as I open the note.

Dear angel,

Katherine was right, I was going to propose to you the day you left. I had the ring ready and everything. I loved you angel and I still do. more then ever. Elijah told me about how you will end up sired to klaus, that you have I drink each other's blood. You will probably not even care about this but just know that with the time I have left, I will save you because I love you Evangelina Mikaelson.
