Maya's POV

"MOM, MOM I HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS!" My daughter Chloe said as she came running through the front door, cello in tow.

"What sweetie, what's so exciting?" I said my 14 year old daughter

"There was a scout that sat in during my orchestra rehearsal and she came up to me after the practice and said that she thinks I would be a great recipient for the NYU Freshman Music Scholarship!" Chloe said handing me the letter

"Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah, NYU? As in New York City?" I asked while reading the letter

"Yes mother, New York City!" Chloe replied

"When is this happening? When do they want you to audition?" I said, finally looking at Chloe

"It's this weekend...in New York City." Chloe mumbled

"Oh Chloe I'm sorry but I can't make this happen..." I said sadly

Just then Miles walked through the door

"But mom why nooooootttttttt?" Chloe whined, dragging out the "not"

"Woah what's happening in here?" Miles asked, setting his briefcase on the table

"Chloe got invited to audition for an NYU music scholarship but, the auditions are this weekend...and in New York City." I said as Miles sighed

"Congratulations Chloe but I'm afraid that we can't let you go." Miles said

"But daddy I worked for this! You guys have been pressuring me to pursue playing the cello for the past 10 years of my life! I have worked harder than anyone for this, I really want this!" Chloe said hoping it would change our minds

I wasn't really sure about letting my oldest daughter go to New York City alone for a whole weekend. sure I went on auditions like that when I was her age but I did end up going to party's and getting into trouble that would come back to bite me in the ass later on. That's why I never got the opportunity to get into NYU like I always wanted to.

Later that night at dinner, everyone was sitting at the table talking except for Chloe. Before she went to bed, she came and talked to me,

"Mom?"

"Yes Chloe?"

Chloe came and sat on my bed with me,

"Why won't you let me go to New York?"

"Well Chloe, when I was your age...I was invited to that same audition but I didn't get picked for it because I had posted something on FaceRange and Hastigram that the teachers and judges saw and said that they couldn't have a party girl like me at their school. That's also why I couldn't get into NYU for college, same with Juilliard, and Berkley and a ton of schools here in Toronto. I don't want you to get your hopes up just to have them crushed when you don't get in." I said

Chloe looked at me and said, "Mom, I need to go to this audition, I have to! I can get Aunt Katie to take me, please I have to make it there!" Chloe said, begging on her knees

After a long pause, I finally spoke, "I can call Katie tomorrow and see if she can take you-"

"YAY!" Chloe said before jumping up and down

Well at least someone is living my dream.
