Maya's POV
Maddie started competing for dance about 2 years ago and she is amazing! we had to make the basement so she could go down there and dance. it has the dance floor and ballet mirrors and acro mats. she's my little tumbler too! she does some amazing tricks!
"Hey mom come down stairs and help me practice! I need you to watch my solo." Maddie said coming into the kitchen were I was making lunch
"Ok sweetie let's make this quick." I said walking down stairs
I watch Maddie as she put on her gore boots (aka jazz shoes) and she positions herself on the floor as her solo song Be My Baby from Dirty Dancing comes on and she starts dancing to the music
She was almost done with her routine, she was about to do a backflip into an ariel then into a leap, when Miles came down the stairs
"Maya what are you doing? aren't you supposed to be making lunch? we are starving!" Miles said
"What? I'm watching Maddie, she's almost done!" I said turning back to my daughter
"Maya, we need to talk!" Miles voice scared me, it reminded me of when we got into that big fight 2 years ago when he slapped me across the face
I walked upstairs with him and closed the basement door so Maddie couldn't hear,
"What Miles?"
"Your spending too much time with Maddie and not with me or the kids!"
"Miles, she needs to practice and I need to watch her!"
"Maya you have other children!"
"But...Maddie,"
"She's fine, she doesn't need dance. I say we pull her out because it's ruining us Maya can't you see! you and I don't even talk anymore! when is the last time we had sex?" Miles asked
"December..."
"Exactly! Maya if you don't pull her, I'm gonna pull the plug...on this marriage."
"What? no Miles you can't do that!" I said getting scared
"Maya we have been drifting apart for a year! we need a break we need time and I think the best thing would be to pull the plug on us."
"Fine! you want this? you can pull the plug cause I'm done!" I said, taking my silver wedding ring off and putting it on the kitchen counter and walking towards the door
He never stopped me.
