Protecting My Family

Miles POV

Ever since Zig broke in to the house, Maya hasn't been herself. I mean it's only been 4 days but she's weird now. when it's time for the kids to go to bed she stays with them till they fall asleep, she locks the door and windows in their rooms, and if she hears a sound at night she gets up and checks on the kids and walks around the house.

I mean I love Maya but this is getting out of hand. I have to make out with her just to get her to stop worrying about the kids and go to sleep.

It's about 10:00 pm and Max,Chloe, and Maddie are all in bed and I went up stares to check on them as usual and I came back to find Maya sitting on the couch in the living room with a bottle of wine in her hand, the glasses on the table, and she was watching Teen Wolf. I knew something wasn't right cause she only drinks from the actual wine bottle and watches Teen Wolf when she's sad.

"Hey baby what's wrong?" I said sitting down next to her on the couch

"Nothing I can't drink wine and watch tv?" Maya said never looking at me

I know she's been crying. She won't look at me and her glasses are on the table in front of her with a tone of tissues

"Maya why are you crying?"

"It's nothing, it's just that Stiles and Malia are so cute it makes me happy." Maya said pointing to the tv that was showing two high school kids sitting on a bed doing homework

"Maya...i know your sad. your drinking red wine from the bottle and your watching Teen Wolf you only do that when your sad." I said looking at her trying to turn her chin so she would look at me

"No I don't! I drink wine all the time and I love this show!" Maya said finally looking at me

She had mascara running down her face and under her eyes were all black

"Really? you said that this show was an overly drama show that makes no sense."

She laughed and smiled at that

"See there's that beautiful smile that I love" Maya blushed when I said that

I grabbed a tissue and wiped the mascara from her face and got the black off from under her eyes

"Thank you..." she muttered only loud enough for me to hear

"Anything for you...i love you Maya."

"I love you too."

She leaned in so I kissed her. this kiss was unlike most of our kisses, this was just a caring, loving kiss, we both needed it.

After Maya calmed down I picked her up and carried her up the stares

When I got to our room I put Maya down on the bed and I slipped off her cloths and she curled up inter the sheets, I just let her be by herself and I walked back down stares

I turned off the tv and put the wine away. I checked to make sure all the doors and windows were locked. when I went back up stares I check on each of the kids and then went back to mine and Maya's room

I got in our room, I striped of my clothes and got in bed with Maya in just my boxers. that's how we sleep almost every night, sometimes we sleep with nothing on at all but I feel like Maya isn't in the mood tonight.

As I settle in to go to sleep I feel Maya move into me and I look down and she's clinging to my side

I just rap my arms around her and let her cry, that's all I can do for now.

It was about 2:00 am when I felt Maya shift away from me and sit up, I sit up too

"Maya...baby what's wrong?" I ask my voice filled with concern

"I think I just heard something" Maya said looking at the bedroom door

All of a sudden the door started to open and Maya gasped and held on to me

It was just Chloe.

"Mommy, daddy, I think I heard something at the window." Chloe said looking very scared

"Come here sweetie." Maya said pointing at the spot between me and her

"Mommy why don't you have a shirt on?"

Maya just looked and me and I laughed

I got up to go check the house but not before I threw Maya one of my shirts to put on

As I walked down the hall I checked the kids rooms to check on them and told them to go see Maya in our room.

I walked around the house but didn't see anything that looked unusual and I checked the doors and windows but they were both still locked

I walked back up to my room to see Maya and the kids sitting in bed and Maya was petting Maddie's hair while Max was sleeping next to Chloe

I walked up to the bed and whispered

"Where am I going to sleep?"

Maya chuckled and got out of bed and came up to me and put her arms around my neck

"We just have to make room"

Maya kissed me softly and we walked over to my side of the bed and I laid down and Maya laid on top of me. We let the kids sleep on Maya's side and she slept on top of me.

For a while Maya just stared at me and I petted her hair and she smiled at me. I gave her a quick kiss and we fell asleep.
