Chapter 4: Potions and Broken Arms

Transfiguration Class No POV

McGonagall: could I have your attention, please? Right. Now, today, we will be transforming animals into water goblets. Like so. One, two, three. Vera Verto. <turns a bird into a fancy water goblet> now it's your turn. Who would like to go first?

Wade:<raises his hand>

McGonagall: go ahead, Mr Torchwick.

Wade: Vera Verto. <transforms his owl Hunter into a black water goblet>

McGonagall: very good. Ms Snyde.

Merula: watch and learn, Wade. Vera Verto. <turns her bird into a wood water goblet>

McGonagall: you need to work on that Ms Snyde.

Wade: I watched and I learned not to do what you did.

Merula: shut up.<pouts>

McGonagall: ah, Mr. Weasley. "One, two, three. Vera Certo."

Ron:<clears throat> Vera Verto.

Ron's wand glitched as it turned Scabbers into a hairy water goblet with a tail that made other students laugh.

McGonagall: that wand needs replacing, Mr. Weasley.

Hermione:<raises her hand>

McGonagall: yes, Miss Granger?

Hermione: Professor, I was wondering if you could tell us about the Chamber of Secrets.

McGonagall:<sees the other students also want to know> very well. Well, you all know, of course, that Hogwarts was founded over a thousand years ago by the four greatest witches and wizards of the age: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. Now, three of the founders coexisted quite harmoniously. One did not.

Ron: three guesses who.

McGonagall: Salazar Slytherin wished to be more selective about the students admitted to Hogwarts. He believed magical learning should be kept within all-magic families. In other words, pure-bloods. Unable to sway the others, he decided to leave the school. Now, according to legend, Slytherin had built a hidden chamber in this castle known as the Chamber of Secrets. Well, shortly before departing, he sealed it, until that time when his own true Heir returned to the school. The Heir alone would be able to open the Chamber and unleash the horror within, and by so doing, purge the school of all those who, in Slytherin's view, were unworthy to study magic.

Hermione: Muggle-Borns.

McGonagall: well, naturally, the school has been searched many times. No such chamber has been found.

Hermione: Professor? What exactly does legend tell us lies within the Chamber?

McGonagall: the Chamber is said to be home to something that only the Heir of Slytherin can control. It is said to be the home... of a monster.

Some students were creeped out but Malfoy had a smug face. Wade went over to the library with Penny and Tonks as he looked at books of monsters.

Penny: I'm worried about Ben, he's a Muggle born.

Wade: the sooner we find what creature it is, the sooner we can make sure Ben is safe.

Merula: protecting a Muggle Born?

Merula and her gang were there blocking their way in and out between the shelves.

Merula: for a pure blood, you sure like to be with inferior wizards.
