--Tessa's POV-
I dropped Michael off at daycare and sat back in my seat for a minute. I was about to go to coffee with Andy, and my mind was spinning. That kiss. The feeling of his lips hadn't left mine since that afternoon, and neither had the nervous shaking that came after it. I had been so afraid of him, I'd expected pain, but instead he just back away. His very face was once the symbol of my pain, but it's all been so turned I can't even distinguish right from wrong anymore. I remembered the feeling of his embrace, and how for just a few seconds it felt so beautiful. But when he turned to leave, I wanted to tell him. I wanted to say it. But I couldn't, and I just fell. I went right back to being afraid again. My nails dug themselves into the palm of my hand and I glanced at the clock. Time to go. My shaky hand reached for the steering wheel and I headed to the small coffee shack.
--Andy's POV--
I parked in the lot of the coffee shop. I was early, so I had time to sit back and think about my situation. On the bright side, I finally had the chance to make it up to Tessa. However, she was coming with a lot of complications. I was going to have to be careful, I don't want to ruin her life or trigger anything serious, in fact deep down I know it'd be better to stay away from her on the whole. That kiss. It hadn't left my lips since that afternoon. The way it felt, how my love for her boiled in the pit of my stomach and I wished it could've lasted longer but I didn't want to hurt her. Just one kiss, that's all I need.
Seeing Tessa's car pull in, I got out of my car to greet her. She looked lost in thought, and I didn't blame her. "Hey Tessa," I said, smiling wryly.
--Tessa's POV-
"Hey Tessa," Andy said. I turned around to see a silly little smile on his lips. "Oh, uhm, hey Andy." I said awkwardly. "You ever been to this coffee house?" I shook my head. "It's pretty good." He smiled. We began to walk towards the little shack. "So, I guess we haven't really caught up all the way." He said, sitting down at a booth. I nodded. "Jinxx told me about most of it." I said. "I mean, I haven't caught up with you." He said. A waitress interrupted him. "Can I get you something to drink?" She asked. "I'll take a hot chocolate." Andy said with a smile. "Coffee for me." I said. "Okay, I'll be right back with that." The waitress headed off. "You didn't get a coffee?" I asked. "Not a big coffee person." Andy said. "So...Catch me up." I heaved a sigh.
"I mean, it wasn't ideal but...after I left you I, uhm, I lived on the streets for a while." I blew air out of my mouth and faked an awkward smile. "But eventually I got in contact with an old friend and got a job as a lyricist. She let me stay with her for about two months before she came to me and said that I had to leave before I game birth because she couldn't have baby stuff all over her apartment. So I slept in my car for a while. Then I got promoted for the first time, and I moved offices to the one I'm in now. I saved up enough to buy an apartment. A little while later, I had Michael. After that, life was...okay, I guess. I mean I had a few difficulties with the whole....uhm, PTSD thing but it was okay. A couple years went by and I got offered another promotion if I worked your case, and I took it. So now I'm here."
Andy nodded. "Did you ever have a fiance or--" I shook my head, and neither of us spoke. The waitress came back with my coffee and his hot chocolate. "Can I get you guys anything to eat?" Andy looked at me. "I'm good." Andy nodded. "We're fine, thanks." He said. "Okay. My names Alicia if you need anything." Andy looked back at me. "It's really hard to have, uhm, anything with anyone...I didn't hookup with anyone in all that time." Andy looked down at his drink. "I don't know how to apologize." Andy said, his eyes burning me. "It's okay..." I said. "No, it's not okay." He said. I took a sip of my coffee. "What can I do to make it up to you?" He asked. "Honestly." I was silent. "Can I help with the lyrics again?" I blurted out. Andy looked as stunned as I was. "Yeah!" He smiled, but it didn't last long. "I'll talk to my manager again. See what he says, okay?" I nodded. What a stupid thing of me to do. "We're touring in about a month, so it might be complicated." All I could do was nod. I stared down at the half an inch of coffee still in my cup. "Do you want to meet me at my office on Thursday and tell me what the plan is?" I asked, my voice shaking. "Sure. Is 10:00 good for you?" I nodded. "Okay, good then. Anyways, I should head out. It was nice catching up." Andy said. My hazel eyes flicked up to meet his, and we stared for a moment. "0kay, uhm, yeah. I'll see you."
What did I do?
