Final Selection Pt. 2

"Water breathing, Second Form! Water Wheel!"

I yelled as I said, "Get out of here! I'll take this demon on!" "R-right!" The boy said. "Another sweet little fox cub has come to me." The demon spoke. "'Another?'" I asked. "Little fox cub, what year of the Meiji is it now?" He asked. I answered him, It's the Taisho Period now!" "Taisho?" The demon widened his eyes in realization. It starts screaming and scratching itself while saying, "Holy crap! Time has passed into a new period? Again! Again while I've been held prisoner inside this place!" While he screams, Tanjiro watches in horror, "Unforgivable! Unforgivable! Damn you, Urokodaki! Damn you, Urokodaki! Damn you, Urokodaki! Damn you, Urokodaki!" He finished. "How do you know Mr. Urokodaki?" I asked. "I know him, all right! Because Urokodaki is the one who captured me! I'll never forget that day 47 years ago! Back when he was still hunting demons! It was the Edo period during the Keio era." He said. "Hunting demons? Edo period? It feels as if you're lying. I never heard of a demon that survived here for that long." I said. "But I survived all this time. Inside this wisteria prison, I've eaten at least fifty of you brats." The large demon said. "Fifty?" I asked. The demon raised some hands and counted, "Eleven, twelve, thirteen. That makes you number 14!" "What are you talking about?" I asked. The demon giggled and said, "The number of Urokodaki's students I've eaten, that's what. Hehehe I promised myself to kill every one of his students." I gasped. "Let's see. The ones who particularly stand out to me... it's those two. Those two... That brat's hair was an unused colour. He was the strongest. He had peach-coloured hair. A scar by his mouth. The other one was a female brat in a flowery kimono. She was small and lacking in strength, but she was awfully agile." I gasp, as the demon keeps giggling. "They had already been killed by this demon? But I was with them! Maybe that's the reason I couldn't sense nor smell them." I mentally said. "That mask. I can tell by the fox masks. I know the texture of the masks Urokodaki carves. The same style of carving he used for his tengu masks. Warding masks, right? Everyone got eaten just because they were wearing them. They're all here inside my belly." I become enraged as my breathing becomes ragged. "It's as if he's guided them to their deaths! Hehehe. When I said that to the girl, she was crying and fell into a rage. And right after that, she lost control of her movements. Hehehehe I ripped her limbs, and then," he added. That was the last straw for me. I became enraged and charges at the demon. He sends some arms towards me as I cut some arms that come to me. I yelled while running.

-Back at the boulder (Very brief)-
"Calm down, Tanjiro. Your breathing's uneven. It's all right. Never mind us!

-Back with Tanjiro's (Very short) POV-
I am too enraged to notice an arm come from my left. As I'm too busy rushing him, I was struck by my left as it sends me through a tree, knocking me out.

-Hand demon's POV-
I walk towards Urokodaki's student as he lay there. I notice his mask has broken, while he bleeds from his scar. I giggle, "Another of Urokodaki's brats is dying. I wonder how he's going to feel when another of his kids doesn't come home. I wonder what kind of look he'll have on his face." As I reach for the boy I say, "Oh, man, I wish I could see it. I really do."

-In Tanjiro's Mind-
"nee-chan!" I faintly hear. "Nee-Chan! Nee-chan!" I hear Shigeru's voice.

-3rd Person POV-
Tanjiro opened his eyes right on time. Just before the demon can grab him, he pushed himself up into a standing position. "He dodged it! So, he can still move? Great! Now I can have some fun," the Hand Demon thought as he launches tons of arms. Tanjiro slices three arms that are too close to him. He jumps back as he starts running back. "Damn! No matter how many arms I cut, they grow back in a second!" Tanjiro tells himself. "You can't defeat me by slashing off my arms. Then again, not even that pink-haired brat couldn't slice off my head!" The demon tells Tanjiro. Tanjiro comes to a stop as he slices more arms. "I can't just let this one go! Before any more lives are sacrificed, I'm going to bring him down now!" Tanjiro thought to himself. He rushes toward the demon head-on. The demon yells, "You fool! Charging me head-on is suicidal!" Tanjiro's body tells itself to jump, "My body is telling myself to jump! Plus a demon's scent is coming from under me!" Tanjiro jumps high above the ground seeing many arms come from where he was. "H-He jumped! Dammit, I missed him! Yeah, but no way can he dodge this attack on mid-air!" He said as he merges his arms. He launched a giant arm toward Tanjiro.

-At the boulder-
"Do you think Tanjiro's going to lose, too?" Makomo asks. "His neck is so tough after all." She adds. "No doubt about it. Tanjiro will win this battle. The reason he was hit was that his breathing was off. I mean he was able to beat me, and cut this large boulder without even trying."

-Back with the battle (3rd Person POV)-
Tanjiro cocks his head back and headbutts the arm down. "He deflected me!" The demon said. Tanjiro runs down the arm of the demon, as little arms emerge from it.

Total Concentration! Water breathing!

As he was breathing huge amounts of air, he slices the arms that emerged from it. He jumps toward the neck of the demon and gets into a slashing position. "He got too close to me! Not to worry. My neck is tough! He can't slash it!" The demon spoke to himself

First Form!

"As soon as he fails to cut my neck, I'm going to crush his head! Just like I did to the other one!" He said again. Tanjiro notices the opening thread, he yells and slices the demon's neck without any trouble.

Water Surface Slash!

I hope you enjoyed my chapter. The battle was identical to the fight in episode 4 and I'm sorry for that.

Tanjiro had a girl who'd always try to get close to him. She also tried to ask him out many times, but she gave up because how dense Tanjiro was.
