The fifth decapitated body falls to the ground as Tanjiro immediately gets up and looks behind him. He noticed two things. One is, that Nezuko still lays on the ground but slowly got up. And two, dawn was about to break, and that was one of the things he feared most. He thought, "Dawn is breaking! This open ground is dangerous!" Tanjiro yells, "Run, Nezuko!" He trips and begins to breathe heavily as Nezuko begins to run toward him. With the sun threatening to break over the horizon, he said, "No, Don't come this way! You're the one in danger... If the sunlight strikes you!" Nezuko points at the fifth body but Tanjiro didn't catch the signal. Tanjiro got up and met up with Nezuko. Nezuko begins to tell under the bamboo muzzle and Tanjiro was confused. Tanjiro then heard the yells of the nearby swordsmiths who yelled, "Wahhhh! Run! He's not dead... Even with his head cut off!" Tanjiro was shocked. He noticed the kanji on the demon's tongue and thought, "Resentment? I thought the main body was fear! The character on the tongue is different!" Tanjiro begins to sprint, whilst staggering a bit, toward the demon. The sun's gleam barely broke over the horizon and burned Nezuko's face. Nezuko screamed as Tanjiro quickly does a 180 and looks at Nezuko. He immediately grabbed Nezuko and tried his best to hide her from the sun. Tanjiro also yelled, "Nezuko! Shrink! Make your body smaller! Shrink!" Nezuko yells in agony while Tanjiro thought, "It's this bad even when the sun isn't fully up?!" He looks behind him and saw that the demon got even closer to the swordsmiths. He thought, "This is bad! Someone help! Genya! Tokito-kun! There's no way they can get here from the top of that cliff! Oh right! The sunlight affects that demon too! But it doesn't matter... He'll get those villagers first! And if I try to carry Nezuko... I'll never be able to catch him! Aagh! It's no use! I can't decide! I can't..." Tanjiro was then flung into the air by Nezuko, who sacrificed herself by kicking him into the air. Tanjiro watched as Nezuko's far burned from an agonizing look to a smile of reassurance. Tanjiro flips and lands on the ground with pain throughout his mind. Tears ran down his face as he thought, "Sniff him out! He hasn't run that far! If the main body were far away, I'd have known the smell. He's close... But where? I can find it by the scent- the shape and colour!" Tanjiro focused on the demon whilst thinking, "There! He's still inside that from. I see! Closer... Look closer... More...!" Tanjiro then noticed the demon's body inside the larger demon's heart. He started to chase behind the demon and thought, "There he is! Inside the heart! This is the end for you, you cowardly demon! You devil!" The villagers were being grabbed by the heads while yelling, "Waaaah! It's no use!" "Gyah!" "He caught us-" Tanjiro slashes the demon's arm that grabbed one of the villagers and yells, "Now you pay for your sins... With your life!" Tanjiro pulls his up and brings his blade down diagonally. Before the blade made contact with his shoulder, the Fear Demon's life before he became a demon flashed before his eyes. He thought, "What am I seeing? Is this my life when I was a human? Is this...? Is this my life flashing before my eyes!" Tanjiro's eyes were pure white from anger with a small amount of electricity forming. His sword finally made contact with his right shoulder and exited down towards his left waist. The demon finally began to crumble but at the cost of everything. The villagers made their way to Tanjiro who was boiling in sadness and anger. He almost reached his breaking point. He looked down and thought, "We won... But I lost Nezuko! The sunlight consumed her! Even her bones are gone! She can never come back!" A crackle was heard from Tanjiro. One of the villagers said, "Kamado-dono... K... Kamado-dono..." Tanjiro slowly looked up at the villager who pointed behind him. He turns his head toward the location he pointed at while still keeping his eyes on the villager. He then moved his eyes and saw her... Nezuko. She stood there as if nothing even happened, but with some of her kimono and haori ripped but still ok. Tanjiro calmed down and started breathing heavily. He couldn't believe it, Nezuko stood right in front of his eyes. He thought she had burned away. He was completely speechless. Nezuko then started to stutter, "G... G... Good morning!"

Tanjiro was so darn close to gaining another transformation. If Nezuko didn't do what just happened, that would've been his final driving force to absolutely shred Muzan a thousand times over.
