-Rui's Memory-
Three kids have a snowball fight as one kid dodges a snowball. They continue to laugh and giggle as Rui watches them. A kid got hit while one yelled, "Gotcha." Rui walks toward the three as he falls flat on his face. He coughs and turns to his back to see the sky. Soon, a woman approaches and yells, "Rui! Rui! Rui! What are you doing? You know you're not supposed to be outside!"

"I was always very frail ever since I was born. I couldn't run. Even just walking was a struggle."

Rui sat quietly in a dark room as a man showed up. Rui then looked out the door to see who the man was.

"Until Muzan-sama appeared."

Muzan spoke, "You poor thing. I shall save you." Rui just started at the man while the remained quiet.

"My parents weren't happy about it. Because now that is acquired a strong body, I could never expose myself to sunlight, and I had to feed on humans."

Rui's father opened the door as he asks, "What have you done? What on earth have you done? Rui!" The mother sobbed outside the door as the father and Rui stared at each other.

"Long ago, I heard an incredible story. There was once a father who died trying to save his drowning child. I was deeply moved. Such astounding parental love. And such a bond, as well. This father who drowned in the river had fulfilled his role as a parent. And yet, for some reason, my own parents..."

Rui's father cried at what he was about to do. He raised a knife

"My own parents tried to... Kill me. All my mother did was weep, never lifting a finger to protect me as I was about to be killed."

Rui opened his eyes before his father killed him. Blood poured as Rui stared at the full moon.

"They must've been imposters. Our family bond wasn't real."

The mother moved a little as she weakly said, "Sorry..."

"She's saying something. So, is she still alive?"

The mother added, "...for not giving you a strong, healthy body. I'm so sorry." Rui widened his eyes at the words and regretted his actions.

"Those were my mother's last words before she died. She was dead."

Earlier, before the father was about to kill Rui, he said, "It's all right, Rui! We're going to die with you!"

He thought, "Every single day... I missed my parents so much that I could barely stand it. Even after creating a fake family, the emptiness remained. Since I was the one with the most power, there was no one who could protect me... who could shield me. The more powerful I became... the more my memories faded." Giyu watched Rui's headless body slowly walk toward the two. Rui thought, "And I was lost sight... of what it was that I wanted to do." The body finally reached the two as it dropped in front of Tanjiro. It reached the two as Rui added, "Seeking a bond that I could never claim for myself. Even though it was simply out of my reach, no matter how I strained to get my hands on it." Tanjiro got a scent of Rui's emotions and looked at the body. He thought, "That small body... is giving off a scent of grief too overwhelming to bear." He began to tear up at it and reached out to the body. Rui watched as Tanjiro put Nezuko down and kneeled while placing his hand on his back. Rui thought, "So warm. Hands as gentle as sunlight. Now I remember as clear as day. What I wanted was to apologize."

"I'm sorry. I was... I was to blame for it all. Please forgive me."

"But since I've killed mountains of people, I'm going to Hell, aren't I? Tou-san... Kaa-san... I can't go to the same place as you, can I?"

-In Hell-
Rui's father said, "That's not true." Rui opened his eyes and saw his father. He finished, "We'll be going together even if it's to Hell." Rui gasped and looked to his left. His father said, "Rui..." Rui said, "Tou-san..." The mother got closer while Rui said, "Kaa-san..." The mother nodded her head and said, "Rui... No matter where you go, we'll be with you." Rui couldn't hold back his tears anymore and yelled. He hugged her while the father hugged them both. Rui said, "It was all... It was all my fault! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" All three sat and embraced each other in Hell as fires burn all around.

-Real-World-
Rui's body and head finally disappear as his kimono remained. Tanjiro sighs as Giyu stomps his foot on Rui's kimono. Giyu said, "Don't water any sympathy on a demon that devoured humans. It doesn't matter if it looks like a child. It's still a hideous monster that's lived for decades." Tanjiro angrily replied, "To avenge the people who were killed... to make sure there are no more victims... of course, I'll bring my blade down on any demon's neck without mercy! But as for those for whom being a demon meant despair, those who regretted their actions... I will never trample over them! Because demons were once human, too! They were human... like me! Please move your foot!"

"They're not hideous monsters at all! Demons are hopeless creatures! They're tragic creatures!"

Giyu moved his gaze to Nezuko and gasped. He finally realized who these two are. A familiar presence knocked Giyu out of his thoughts as Giyu draws his sword to protect the two. Shinobi prepares to stab Nezuko as Tanjiro instantly pucks her up and protects her. Giyu clashed with Shinobu as Shinobu said, "Oh, my..." She flips back to the ground and comes to a stop. She asks Giyu, "Why would you get in my way, Tomioka-san? After telling me that we could never get along with demons... How should I put this?" She faces the three while finishing, "That's exactly why... no one likes you, you know."
