-Rui's Mind-
"Family... A father has his role as the father, and the mother has the role as the mother. The parents protect the children, and the elder brother and sister protect their younger siblings. -Tanjiro's Battle-
Rui asked, "What about you? What's your role? Your role is to relinquish your sister to me and disappear. If you can't do that, your only option is to die. Because you can't defeat me." Tanjiro held his snapped sword and thought, "Lower Five... Just as I thought! That power... This kid is a true Twelve Kizuki! It won't be easy to cut those threads. What should I do? Whit this broken sword... If his neck turns out to be tougher than the threads..." Rui interrupted his thoughts, "I don't like that look in your eyes. Glittering like that... How foolish. Don't tell me... You think you're going to win!" Rui sent threads toward Tanjiro. But instead of cutting, the threads grabbed Nezuko and pulled her to him. Tanjiro looked back and saw Nezuko fly toward Rui. Rui caught Nezuko and asked, "There, I've taken her now. Now, do you understand your role?" Tanjiro yelled, "Let her go!" While Tanjiro charged at Rui, he said, "But I told you I'd spare your life, at least, if you didn't defy me." Nezuko grew veins on her face and scratched Rui on the face. Tanjiro charged at Rui while he threw threads at him. Tanjiro gasped and backflipped to dodge it. He pointed his sword at Rui. The thing that confused him the most was that Nezuko was nowhere to be seen. He said, "Nezuko's gone!" Blood dripped from above onto his sword. He looked up and saw two things he didn't want to see at all. Both the full moon and Nezuko tied up. He fixed his gaze toward Nezuko almost staring at the moon. Nezuko's blood dripped down as she whimpered in pain. While healing, Rui said, "Quiet down. I'm sure that's not enough to kill her. After all, she's a demon. But it looks like I'll have to teach her a lesson after all. I'm going to let her bleed for a while. If she still doesn't learn to be obedient, I'll just leave her like that until sunrise... and let her get searched a bit." Tanjiro held his arm to cool his anger before letting it all out. He yelled, "You let Nezuko... Let her go!" He charged at Rui while Rui threw more threads at him. Tanjiro was too angry to dodge and got cut up from the threads. He tripped onto the ground while Rui walked above him. Before Tanjiro opened his eyes and got kicked into the air and landed on a bush. He coughed a bit of blood and saw Rui backhand him. He tensed his jaw muscles and took the hit. After taking the hit, he was dazed but kicked Rui. Rui caught the kick and launched an 'imitation' at Tanjiro sending him back. He got up panting from getting the wind knocked out of him. Rui said, "Look, you... I'm sure I'm mistaken, but... You don't think that if you get close enough to me, you can chop off my head, do you?" Tanjiro caught his breath while Rui got closer and said, "Fine by me. Here. Give it a shot." Rui opened his arms, waiting for the strike. Tanjiro threw the sword while Rui just dodged. But, Tanjiro dodged the two punches Rui gave and finally hit his neck. Tanjiro gasped, "The blade... won't go through!" Tanjiro tried a little harder as Rui said, "Didn-" Rui was cut off as Tanjiro cut Rui's neck a tiny bit. Rui got scared and kicked Tanjiro into a nearby hill. Tanjiro comes to an explosive halt. Rui thought, "But how? He can cut my head? His power compared to mine is like an anthill to a mountain." Rui tried to fool him, "Just so you know, you don't have the slightest chance at cutting my neck. So I don't know why you still try." Rui was also lucky enough that Tanjiro didn't notice his sword cutting Rui's neck from all the shaking. Nezuko began to grunt and tell seeing Tanjiro thrown around. Tanjiro got up and coughed, he thought, "S-So powerful. His power is on a whole different level than any other demon I've fought! So, this is a Twelve Kizuki's... So this is the power of a demon with a higher blood concentration of Kibutsuji's blood?" Nezuko keeps yelling and grunting that it annoyed Rui. Rui turned around, lifted up his fist and closed it while saying, "You're making too much noise. Quiet down a bit." The threads that held Nezuko up have gotten tighter, causing immense pain in Nezuko as blood dripped down. Tanjiro yelled, "Stop that!" Rui said, "I'm your big brother now. Enough of that infernal wailing." Tanjiro gripped his sleeve while thinking, "Calm down! Don't get emotional! If you keep this up, you'll be eating right into his hands!" Tanjiro then had an idea. He stood up and focused his power. He raised it while Nezuko finally fell asleep. Rui got confused and asked, "Huh? Did she pass out? Is she sleeping? This demon has a unique aura. There's something different about her that's not like the great of us. Interesting." Tanjiro started emitting a white light around his body while his power rose. He thought, "Concentrate!
