It started at Christmas

Chapter 42

Chris pov.

After we got in the car, Mackie turned to me. "So we are going out to dinner first and i then arranged that we can go to this jeweler after hours avoiding getting recognized, he was more than happy to open his store for us after opening hours. We can go in trough the back door." Mackie said with a smug smile on his face for setting everything up so quick. Scott chuckled, "does Chris need to buy the ring or have you guys arranged that already to?"  Mackie shook his head. "Nah man that is his responsibility." I sighed, "i just hope i can find something she will like. She doesn't like big an flashy she is not that type of woman" i smiled. "I took a ring out off her jewelry box for the size," i said pulling a ring out of my pocket.  "Dont worry Chris, we will help you find the perfect ring. And if we dont find it tonight we keep looking." Scott said and the others agreed. 

We got to the restaurant and went in getting seated right away. Our menus where brought by an eager waitress. I sighed as she tried to flirt, i kept my answers short hoping she would move on and after we ordered a round of drinks she left letting us decide what we are going to eat. She came back with our drinks once again being all over me. I felt really uncomfortable that as soon after she left i switched seats with Mackie who was sitting in a corner where she couldn't reach me. 

Mackie called her back as soon as we had decided what we wanted and she looked surprised at the sudden change in seating arrangements. But finally she left me alone. We ate talking about our upcoming projects. Scott was talking about his Broadway role and i couldn't be more proud.  "How do you think Liv is going to handle the sex scenes?" Seb asked. I sighed thinking about that conversation with Liv. "We had talked about it a few nights ago and she was pretty relaxed about it understanding it came with the territory, she said she was going to pretend it is an evil twin.Besides i explained to her it is all technical and not as hot as you might think with people all around you." They all laughed, "she sounds perfect man" Seb said smiling. "Yep she is but back off she is mine" i joked. 

After dinner i went to pay and call my driver, while Mackie was calling the jeweler telling him we would be there in about 20 minutes. After the driver arrived we took off. I rubbed my hands on my jeans they where getting clammy as the nerves where setting in. "You ok?" Scott asked, "yeah just nervous, it just have to find the perfect ring." I said looking at him. He patted my shoulder.  "Dont worry we will find it." 

We arrived at the back of the store and when we knocked on the door an man opened welcoming us. He led us trough his work space to the storefront, he pointed at the cases with engagement rings telling us to first take a look around and if we needed help to just come to the back. He looked at me seriously, "dont worry about people finding out i will keep it to myself i even put down the shutters so no one can sneak a peak." I thanked him profusely for his time and effort. And after he went to his work space we browsed around. 

"She loves rose gold Scott said but i dont know,  i would go for white gold or platinum." I nodded, "yeah i know and not a colored stone she doesn't like that either." After looking around for a bit my eye fell on a simple but gorgeous ring a small platinum band with a big oval shaped diamond on it. It was perfect simple but elegant, even though the stone was huge it wasn't flashy or over the top. "That's the one" i whispered, the guys came over looking at the ring, they all smiled "she is gonna love it" Scott whispered a tear in his eye. "I cant still believe it she is gonna be my sister" he yelled. Making Seb and Mackie burst out laughing. "Yeah because that is what it is all about" i said laughing. "But in all honesty i am so glad you are okay with this and i know Liv is to because she would be heartbroken if you guys would not be friends because of me anymore." He hugged me, "that would never happen" he said smirking, "i would not be you brother anymore before loosing the friendship" he said grinning. Mackie and Seb started laughing again.
