*narrator pov*
You landed in a large room.
You looked around, and saw out the window the vast darkness of space.
"Lady y/n" Heimdall greeted from behind you.
"Heimdall! It's so nice to see you again" you smiled.
"It is good to see you too."
"Where are my brothers?"
Heimdall pointed and gave you directions, and you followed them accordingly.
You found the double doors he had mentioned, and you swung them open.
Thor was talking opposite someone, but he turned when you walked in.
"Y/n? Y/n!" he yelled excitedly.
"Thor!" you exclaimed and ran towards him.
He wrapped his arms around you when you reached him.
"What are you doing here?"
"What, I can't come visit?"
"Of course you can. I just haven't seen you since we told you Asgard was in ruins."
"Well I missed you."
"I missed you too."
"But you're right. There is something I need to tell you... where's Loki?"
"Oh, uh. I'm sure he'll be here soon. He'll be quick as soon as he finds out you're here" he smiled, then remembered "Oh by the way, this is Bruce. He's from Earth."
"We've actually met" Bruce said as he shook your hand.
"We have? I'm sorry I don't remember you..."
"I don't blame you. I was kind of big and green at the time."
"Oh!" you realised. "You're the hulk. You were there fighting Loki. We were never properly introduced. I'm y/n."
"Nice to formally meet you."
"Yeah you too."
The double doors at the side of the room suddenly burst open again.
You grinned widely.
"Y/n!" Loki cried.
"Loki!"
You ran towards each other, meeting in the middle of the room with a warm embrace.
He lifted you into the air and spun around with you in his arms.
"Ugh it's been too long" you remarked when he put you down.
"It really has. So why have you come?" he asked.
"I needed to talk to you about something. Nothing big, just wanted your advice. But I also haven't seen you in ages, and wanted to come visit."
"Glad you did" Loki smiled.
"Well. We're both here. What do you need to talk about?" Thor wondered.
"It's, uh, it's nothing, really. Now that I think about it it's quite silly..."
"What is it?" Loki interrupted.
"I had a nightmare. And yeah I know I have them all the time but..."
"Y/n we didn't know that" Loki sighed sadly.
"Oh. It's no big deal. They're always fine. Usually. But the dream I had last night, it was different."
"What happened? In the nightmare?" Thor asked.
"It wasn't clear, which was odd because I remember it feeling so real. I came because... I heard your voice" you looked at Loki.
"What was it... I saying?"
"You were screaming my name. Painfully. Then I saw you" you turned to Thor. "...crying. You seemed angry. Then... then someone else spoke. I didn't see his face, but he was really tall... large... wearing armour. It was weird because he had on like one glove on one hand, but nothing on the other."
"A gauntlet?" Loki mumbled.
"Yeah I guess."
"Y/n do you remember what he said?"
"Umm. His voice was mostly distorted. But I think he said something about collecting stones. A-and fixing the universe."
Neither of your brothers said anything, so you stood in silence for a moment.
"I didn't know what it meant" you continued. "But I thought maybe one of you would?"
"Brother?" Thor looked questioningly at Loki.
"Oh. Uh no I don't know" he claimed.
"I'm sorry y/n" Thor said.
"Hm. I'm sure... I hope it's nothing" you sighed. "I'm going to stay here for a couple of days anyway. I really missed you guys."
"We missed you too" Thor smiled.
"Um. Do you have any food?" you asked.
"Yes of course. Loki, can you..." Thor asked.
Loki seemed distracted, and was zoned out until the mention of his name.
"Huh? What?"
"I'm hungry" you grinned and took his hand.
"You're always hungry" Loki chuckled.
"See you later Thor" you called back as you walked out with Loki.
He took you to a large communal kitchen, where a few Asgardian's were sitting around a table.
They stopped talking when you entered.
"Lady y/n" someone stood up. "It's an honour to see you again."
The person kneeled out of respect, and the others around the table did the same.
You sucked your lips into your teeth awkwardly and nodded.
"Right. Um. Please don't do that. And just y/n is fine."
They stood up again and all smiled at you.
"You can, uh, you can carry on eating. Or whatever. Just ignore me."
Their feet shuffled slightly, but they stayed put.
You avoided eye contact as you walked over and opened a cupboard.
The room behind you was silent.
You peered back over your shoulder to see everyone watching you.
"Um you know what, I'm not really hungry" you said and hurried out the room without saying anything more.
You leaned against a wall in the hallway.
Two people walked around the corner and when they saw you, they instantly started whispering to each other.
You took a deep breath and walked off with your back facing them.
You turned into another room, filled with people.
"Lady y/n..."
"It's the princess..."
"Y/n is back!"
"Princess y/n!"
You slowly stepped back out the doorway but you bumped into someone.
"Shit I'm sorry" you apologised as you spun around to face them.
Luckily, it was Thor.
He looked over your shoulder at the people in the room and laughed nervously.
You looked too, before stepping aside so they could no longer see you through the doorway. You sat on a bench in the hallway.
"Hello" Thor waved to the room of people. "Won't be a minute."
He smiled and closed the door.
He turned to you.
"Y/n are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine. I just..." you were breathing heavily.
"What's wrong?"
Thor sat down next to you and put his arm around you.
"I just... forgot what everyone expects of me. The high standards..."
"Yes, well. There's even more now mother and father are gone."
"Great" you sighed sarcastically.
"There you are!" Loki appeared at the end of the hallway. He came to sit on the bench with you. "Are you okay?"
"Mhm" you nodded slowly.
"Good" Thor grinned and stood up. "Come on then."
"What?"
"You're okay. So let's go make your formal entrance."
"Thor, I... can't."
"You need to. Y/n, these are our people. Look around you. We are all they have. We have to be there for them."
"I- I'm only here for a couple of days."
"But you are still vowed to protect them. And they will be comforted by the return of their princess."
"Don't make me do this" you begged.
"Y/n, you are partially responsible for the safety of all these people. Whether you're here all the time or not, you are the princess of Asgard. You need to get over this silliness" Thor said.
You froze as your fathers voice rang through your head: "get over these silly anxieties of yours."
Without saying a word, you got up and rushed away from him. You sped down the hallway and round the corner, out of sight.
Loki stood up to face Thor.
"You are EXACTLY like your father" Loki spat before turning to run after you.
He found you in a small empty bedroom.
You were sitting on the floor, leaning against the side of a bed.
Loki sighed and sat next to you. He saw you were holding back tears.
"Y/n it's okay. You can cry if you want to. I'm here."
"Princesses don't cry, Loki" your voice wavered.
"Don't listen to Thor. He doesn't understand."
"No he's right. This is stupid. A princess doesn't cry. They're strong, and they fight for their people. They don't fucking cry."
"Oh y/n" Loki put his arm around you, and you dropped your head onto his shoulder.
"Why do I already want to go back to Earth?" you groaned.
"Because everything here sucks."
"That is accurate. Everything here does suck. Except you. And Thor."
"No Thor sucks too. He's an idiot."
"An idiot that we love. He is still family."
"Not my family."
"Am I not your family then?"
Loki sighed regretfully.
"Of course you are. I will love you no matter the circumstances. You will always be my sister" he assured.
You smiled and leaned into his chest, making yourself comfy.
You were slowly drifting off to sleep in his arms, when suddenly, you heard an explosion.
