You stared at Veronica in disbelief, your hands pressed against your face in frustration. 'I'm sorry, you did what?' you asked, your voice rising in disbelief.

Veronica shifted uncomfortably, avoiding your gaze. 'I may or may have not told the school you guys were dating,' she admitted, her voice faltering.

'How the hell did you do this?' you demanded, already dreading the fallout from such a revelation.

Veronica reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. With a nervous laugh, she turned the screen towards you, revealing a picture of her and Betty taken at school. In the background, you and Cheryl could be seen holding hands, clearly unaware of the camera.

'I didn't mean for it to happen,' Veronica said, the guilt evident in her voice. 'I was showing the photo to Betty, and she noticed you two in the background. She asked if you were together, and I... I didn't want to lie to her.'

You could feel the panic rising in your chest as you processed what Veronica was telling you. 'Oh my god,' you said, your mind racing with the implications.

'I'm so sorry, y/n,' Veronica said, her expression full of remorse. 'I didn't think anyone would notice, I really didn't.'

You took a deep breath, trying to calm yourself. 'You deleted it, right?' you asked, already knowing the answer.

'I mean yeah,' Veronica said, her face flushed with embarrassment. 'But a shit ton of people still saw it!'

You let out a groan of frustration. 'This is a nightmare,' you said, your hands balling into fists at your sides. 'I gotta text Cheryl.'

'She already knows,' Veronica said, her face contorting with sympathy. 'I texted her and apologized.'

Veronica let out a sigh of relief. 'She was pissed,' she admitted, 'but she knew it was an accident.'

Your phone began to ring, and you looked down to see Jughead's name on the screen. 'Hey, Jug!' you answered, your tone brittle with tension. 'Yeah, heh, okay, bye,' you said, hanging up the phone.

'Well?' Veronica asked, her eyes fixed on your face.

You shook your head, feeling deflated. 'Thanks to you,' you said, 'he's pissed. And so is Betty.'

You sank down onto the living room couch, staring into the fireplace. The warmth of the flames helped to soothe your frayed nerves, but you still couldn't shake the feeling of disappointment.

After a few moments of silence, Veronica spoke. 'I'm sorry,' she said, her voice low. 'I messed up.'

You shook your head, reaching out to take her hand. 'It's okay,' you said, a small smile tugging at your lips.
