IT WAS a quiet evening when you heard the doorbell ring, startling you out of your thoughts. You weren't expecting anyone, especially not tonight, and your mind immediately went to the memories you tried so hard to keep at bay—the ones you shared with Archie Andrews.

It had been months since he left for the war, and longer still since the two of you broke things off. You both agreed it was for the best, though it hadn't made it any easier. Your heart had felt torn in two, but you knew he had a duty to fulfill, and you couldn't stand in his way.

But as you opened the door, the world seemed to stop. Standing there, in his uniform and with a tentative smile, was Archie.

"Hey," he said, voice soft but carrying a hint of the confidence that had always drawn you to him.

You opened your mouth to speak, but words failed you. It felt surreal, seeing him here, in the flesh. "Archie... I didn't know you'd be back," you managed, voice trembling.

"I wanted to surprise you," he admitted, his hand rubbing the back of his neck—a nervous habit you knew well. "I didn't know if you'd... if you'd want to see me."

You could see the uncertainty in his eyes, and all the emotions you'd tried to bury came flooding back. Without thinking, you stepped forward and wrapped your arms around him, pulling him close. For a moment, he seemed stunned, but then his arms closed around you, holding you like he never wanted to let go.

"I missed you," you whispered, your voice muffled against his chest.

"I missed you too," he murmured, his hand gently cradling the back of your head. "More than I can say."

You pulled back slightly to look up at him, your eyes meeting his. The weight of everything unsaid hung between you, but in that moment, all you wanted was him. Without another word, he leaned down, pressing his lips to yours in a kiss that felt both familiar and brand new.

The kiss grew deeper, more urgent, as if making up for all the lost time. His hands slid to your waist, drawing you closer, and you felt your heart racing in a way it hadn't in so long. You led him inside, and he followed willingly, his gaze never leaving yours.

As you reached your room, he paused, looking at you with an intensity that made you shiver. "Are you sure?" he asked, his voice gentle, his hands cupping your face.

You nodded, a soft smile breaking through. "I'm sure. I never stopped loving you, Archie."

With that, he pulled you into another kiss, this one slow and tender. His hands roamed your back, steady and warm, grounding you as the world faded away. You could feel the strength in him, the courage he'd earned, but there was a gentleness too, as if he was savoring every second with you.

As the night unfolded, there was no rush, no need to fill the silence. It was just you and Archie, rediscovering each other in a way that felt both new and timeless. His touch was soft yet unyielding, his every movement a promise that he was here, and he wasn't going anywhere.

Afterward, you lay together in the quiet, his arm draped over you as you traced circles on his hand. He pressed a kiss to your forehead, whispering, "I don't want to lose you again."

"You won't," you replied, lacing your fingers through his. "We've both changed, but we're still us."

As you drifted off, you knew that whatever lay ahead, you'd face it together—no more goodbyes, only the future waiting to unfold.
