Wilbur Soot has been played, fooled even.
It was embarrassing for him, but most of all it felt unfair- and really confusing.
See he thought the kiss had changed everything, that it was all fixed.
So much so that he strutted his way into Quackity's office, who seemed just as pleased to see him as he was to be there. And because he was so incredibly in love with Quackity, he gave him everything in his visit to the office. His time, attention, anything he could give he would. And Quackity took it. That's how it ended with Quackity spread out underneath Wilbur on his fancy little couch in his office, even giving Wilbur something of his own. And god did Wilbur enjoy every second of it. They were two people expressing their strong feelings for each other, right?
That is exactly what Wilbur thought, it's exactly what had kept him so happy and bright these past couple of days. 'The kiss fixed it all, maybe this is a chance to start something.'
Wilbur believed it, he lived in that hope. Every bit of him loved the idea.
But when he so proudly made his way to the second visit in Quackity's office he was met with just the type of thing that he didn't want to see.
He was certain that it was Quackity, sitting at the tables shaded by the needle tower. At the same table across from who Wilbur most certainly knew was Eret.
At first, he was going to walk over, and chat with the two as they were doing. But then the two of them kissed. They fucking kissed.
So he did walk over, just not so that they would notice him. His curiosity only led to the confirmation of what he didn't want. In Quackity's words, "It was a great date."
Wilbur tried to assume that maybe it was a date that you would go on with friends, but as he watched it became clear that it was not.
He tore his gaze away when Quackity leaned in, kissing Eret just like he had with Wilbur.
This was Quackity's twisted way of getting back at Wilbur. He knew Wilbur felt something for him, so he took advantage of it.
Wilbur knew Quackity, he knew that Quackity wouldn't have kissed him if he didn't gain anything from doing so. What he gained was a way to mess around with Wilbur, to get back at him.
And he did, he really did.
Wilbur even tried to talk to Quackity about what he saw but Quackity simply waved him off with a, "Don't be stupid Wilbur Soot. We both know that we could never feel something for each other. Unlike Eret and I."
It was a painful response, one that now had Wilbur sitting on his bed despite it being three pm.
The response was a lie, a hurtful lie. Quackity knew Wilbur truly did feel something for him. So what did Quackity do with that knowledge? He used it for his own benefit. To see the way Wilbur would pause, the way Wilbur's voice would crack as if he was going to cry but he instead raised his voice and walked away.
The way Wilbur would feel stupid afterwards because he sure did.
None of it meant something new for Quackity, it was only a way to feel even. Every kiss, every touch, every glance, even every kind little whisper in each other's ears. It didn't mean anything to Quackity. But it meant almost everything to Wilbur.
A knock at his window sent him out of bed, whipping around quickly to see who wanted to visit him. His body froze for a moment, not sure whether to even walk over to the window. But he remembered Tommy's words, making him walk over and let the cold air hit his face. 'It rained, again.'
