35. Back to Normal

Wilbur pushed through the burger van door, carrying a plate with soon-to-be-eaten burgers, made with love by Ranboo. At least that's what Ranboo had told all of his coworkers.

Work was an easy distraction for Wilbur, it was easy to forget things for a while and only focus on work itself. Which is why he had been devoting his whole past three weeks to work.

Wilbur felt proud of himself, not for his extra effort in work, but because he didn't think about Quackity as much. When he did, he didn't feel sad. Now the two were back on old terms again. But it was comforting to return back to their usual pushes and shoves of competition.

Everything was normal, back to how it was before he got caught up in his stupid feelings (that he most certainly did not have anymore). They would argue, ignoring how everyone found it annoying and pointless. Other than that he didn't really bother with Quackity, he only gave the man attention when he could bicker with him.

It was better that way, no more hurting, no more confusion, just a rivalry and shared hatred for each other. Even more things went back to normal, for the better. Ranboo and Tommy no longer shared weird glances with each other. Tommy didn't stress over Wilbur's mood anymore, even saying that he had done in fact, change. Tommy said that. That Wilbur had changed, that he was better.

That was a big reason why Wilbur felt so great nowadays. He and Tommy had regained trust in their brotherly relationship. He and Quackity were back to their normal competitive behaviour. He even had a group of people to call friends. Everything was so easy, so light, so 'back when things were good'. If Wilbur was honest, he was happy.

So he walked up to the table with a wide grin, "Here's your food Captain Puffy."

"Yea thanks, Wilbur. Lots of people have been telling me about your and Quackity's burger competition," Puffy said with a nod of her head. Wilbur raised an eyebrow, "Oh really?"

"Mhm. Probably because I run Mc Puffy's. It's a fast-food restaurant."

"Wait what?" Wilbur's smile faltered as he looked down at her. She only laughed, "I've been running it for a while now. Before you were revived I'm pretty sure. But don't worry. We are not a threat to your business or anything, not even Quackity's."

"Oh," Wilbur relaxed his shoulders, still a bit uncertain. "That's- then I suppose you could tell me a professional opinion on these, right?"

"Sure thing," her voice was so calm and casual as if Wilbur wasn't about to flip out seconds before. He took this business seriously, so if there was a threat he needed to know. Wilbur turned to wave over Tina who had just served two customers.

"Need something?" She asked with the signature tilt of her head. Wilbur thought about calling Tommy over, maybe even Ranboo, but they were too busy in the burger van with work. Wilbur gestured to the table, "Captain Puffy here also serves burgers. She's gonna let us know her thoughts on our food."

"Great," Tina and Puffy said at the same time, making Tina cut the rest of her sentence. Both of them turned to Puffy, "The burgers are great. Your chef really knows what they're doing."

"The Wilburgers were made by Ranboo," Wilbur tossed a hand back to point at the van behind them. Puffy's face changed with recognition, "Ranboo? He's done a pretty neat job."

"We'll make sure to tell him," Wilbur said with a nod. Tina did as well, "He's carrying." Wilbur let out a small laugh, "Ranboo's carrying."

"Enjoy the food," Tina added when they heard Tommy call out. Wilbur followed, enjoying the shade from the van.

"Time to switch up," Tommy said with a tap of the pen in his hand. Wilbur took it, taking the offer.

"That actually works perfectly," Tina said as Wilbur looked at her for an opinion. "I like stopping by Foolish's table."
