Mama Edith!
Alastor's POV
We made it home, and her body laid nearly limp in my arms. She was babbling about something, but her words were no longer coherent.
I could tell she was beginning to feel the full effects of her drinks, her brain slowing down to sleep off the foreign chemicals.
Still fuming from the whole interaction with Henry, I used her to calm myself down just enough to get her safely into the house. Her voice and her scent were enough to soothe my nerves for now.
Once I'd gotten her inside the house, I took her to the couch. Leaning forward, I set her gently on the couch and her eyes were barely even open anymore. Still she managed to find me through her squint, focusing on me and nothing else.
"Alastor..." she murmured my name, and I nodded.
"Yes, it's me...now I need you to do me a favor, dear. I'm going to go fix you a cup of coffee, and you need to drink it all before you go to sleep...can you do that for me?"
Her fingers tugged against my shirt, "Stay with me?" She asked innocently. Oh dear, she's already forgotten what I'm going to do.
Shaking my head, I gently pried her fingers away from my dress shirt. Reluctantly she laid her hands in her lap, watching my every move.
"I can't, dear, I have business to take care of...but I will be back shortly..." I explained to her. The worried crease in her brow isn't what I wanted to see, so I softened my smile and bent down a bit further.
"And when I get back, I expect to see your little self tucked into bed, ya hear? I'll make you some breakfast in the morning," I said, tapping the tip of her nose with my pointer finger. She blinked and the worry washed away from her features as a smile bloomed across her lips.
"Ok...don't be too long," she said.
With that, I made her coffee and gave her the mug. After that was done, I quickly changed into my black leather overcoat, grabbing my serrated hunting knife.
I sent Fawn a glance and she was mindlessly drinking her coffee like I told her to, despite the cute scrunch in her nose from it being black coffee. She doesn't like black coffee, but I can't make it sweet or the hangover will just be worse for her.
My hand went to the doorknob, and her voice shocked me suddenly.
"Make sure he knows one of those stabs is from me," she said calmly, and I looked towards her. She was looking over the edge of the mug at me as she slowly took a drink.
Her eyes looked dark.
I've never been more attracted to her than in that moment, and I felt my heart flutter at the sight. Swallowing, I ignored the tug in my chest and shot her a smirk.
"Of course, sweetheart," I affirmed, then I was off.
The door slammed behind me and I immediately dropped my smile. My rage that I'd held back for her finally started to show itself.
I'm going to bring this man within an inch of his life and dangle that inch in front of his pig snout before I completely crush him under my heel. I'm going to make him beg and plead with me to end his pathetic life.
Mercy isn't a word I'm familiar with, not when you disrespect someone I think fondly of.
**
It was thoroughly dark now, the night being still and quiet. I pulled up to the radio station with a scowl on my face.
Henry's car was already here.
Taking a deep breath to calm myself slightly, I tapped my fingers on the steering wheel. I can't blackout...I would start killing anything that moves, and doing that in public would not be wise.
