Fawn's POV
My hand went over my mouth to stifle another giggle after Mindy finished yet another story about Al.
"You're joking..." I snorted softly and another fit of laughter overtook me, "I know he didn't actually do that!"
Mindy let out a little laugh, and nodded.
"Oh, yes...he's quite the, um...prankster, shall we say?" She said with a smile.
Despite my previous doubts, this conversation with her has been quite pleasant. I don't even know how much time has passed...I haven't checked the clock.
Hell, Al could be in his broadcast by now.
I shook my head, my cheeks hurting slightly from how much I was smiling, "I just didn't think he'd go that far...I mean...salt in his coffee?" I said, slightly still in disbelief.
She nodded again, "oh yes! And don't forget him moving every piece of furniture in his office just slightly to the left. Every two seconds a different colorful word could be heard," she snickered.
Again, I couldn't contain my laughter.
Maybe that's why this place goes through so many bosses...Alastor just pranks them until they leave.
Or he kills them, but as far as I know, there's only been one instance of that.
However, I believe he's taken quite the liking to Tom...it makes me happy, it's good for him to have an actual friend outside of me and Niffty.
"Oh, that's ridiculous," I giggled, then sighed, "he's such a goofball," I said fondly, blushing at the thought of him, my eyes falling to my hands.
She hummed, "that he is...why, I remember when he arrived here as nothing more than a—a journalist...not a penny to his name..." she said, and I looked up at her.
Her eyes were focused on her coffee mug, lips set into a smile but it was...dampened.
"I was actually above him...his boss, one could say," she chuckled, "but...he received the promotion I dreamed of...I worked so hard just to be noticed but in the end..." she shrugged, and met my eyes.
"I suppose I just wasn't quite good enough."
I frowned softly, my brows furrowing, "hey, don't say that...you're totally good enough for anything you set out for," I smiled then, and reached forward, touching her hand gently, "you're awesome." I complimented sincerely.
Her eyes widened slightly and she looked down again.
She even smiled slightly, opening her mouth to respond before the door opening made us both jump.
"Fawn, my dear?" Alastor's curious voice cut through the air.
"Over here!" I called back, and he stepped into the break room, looking over towards me with a smile.
Then his expression immediately turned cold at the sight of Mindy, a bit of confusion riddling his features as he looked between us.
"Forgive me, what is going on here?" He asked, and I rolled my eyes, shaking my head slightly.
"We're just having a chat, you never told me you were such a funny man, Al," I said and lowered my eyelids.
His eyes widened and he glanced at Mindy.
"Oh, god, what has she told you..." he groaned, and I laughed.
"Nothing too bad," I snickered, and he walked over, smiling softly at me.
