The timeline is about to really pick up. Whenever the year changes, I'll put it in italics at the beginning of the chapter just like this one.

Fawn's POV
New Years came and went, and everything was going well in our lives and with the pregnancy.
I decided that today at work is when I'm going to tell Tom and Niffty. It's been about three weeks or so since the Christmas party, so that should be plenty of time for the pregnancy to not seem too suspicious.
Alastor and I are currently walking through the woods on our way to work. It's very dewy outside this morning, and the small bit of morning sunlight peeking through the trees is giving everything a glittery look.
I held onto his arm loosely, breathing in deeply and exhaling a satisfied sigh. The smells of damp earth and fresh air will never get old.
"Y'know, it may not snow here, but it doesn't fail to be any less beautiful during the winter, I think," I thought out loud, to which Alastor hummed.
"One of the many reasons I love the forest, my dear. It's a beautiful place with beautiful creatures," he mused.
I nodded in silent agreement, and we walked quietly the rest of the way until we reached the city.
When we finally made it to the station, the sun was leaking into the streets and giving everything a golden hue.
Alastor opened the door for me, and I stepped into the familiar space. A few reporters were already at their desks, others probably in the break room grabbing coffee since they're here before me.
I smiled and waved at them as I do every morning, and they greeted Al and I with polite a "good morning".
This is the routine. What we do every single day, and the most comfortable part of our life. It's odd that I live with a serial killer, yet life remains simple and normal.
It's not like he's given up his hobby, no, no...every other night when he thinks I'm sound asleep, he slips out of bed and I hear him getting ready to go tear up the town.
Literally.
But I'll drift off...and when I wake up he's right where he'd been before, holding me against his chest.
Then, either that day or a few days later, there'll be a new story about a murder or two.
The other killer is still in action as well. Their murders are a bit more spread out than Alastor's, but then again they're killing completely innocent young women, and you don't find a lot of those just wondering around at night.
However, the most important thing to me is that we haven't seen that detective, or been under any heat with the cops since that day in the office.
It made me worried, but I think Al was right when he said he knows what he's doing. He leaves no clues, no evidence, and kills somewhat at random.
He's pretty much untouchable.
"Hey, Fawn!"
I blinked, pulling myself out of my thoughts to find Niffty waving at me from Alastor's desk. She had a feather duster in her hand, which she put down before speeding over to us.
"Good morning you guys! I already brewed a fresh pot of coffee, if you're interested, and Alastor your reports are on your desk!" She chirped, and Al hummed.
"Thank you, Niffty, dear...is Thomas here as well? Fawn and I have something we need to discuss privately with you both," he said, getting straight to the point.
