8 - "Of course I care, I just don't show it"

The Vytal Festival is fast approaching and apparently students from other schools have started to arrive, well that's what Schnee said, so she forced her team and, because Blake wants me to get out more, me into Vale to see the festivities or if you call it what it really is, a mission to scout out the competition.

We walk down the streets, as I moan about being dragged out, before we come across a dust shop which is covered in police tape or something. The windows are smashed and two policemen seem to be discussing the matter in front of the building.

"What happened here?" Ruby asks the two policemen
"Robbery. Second Dust shop to be hit this week. This place is turning into a jungle" he turns to the other policeman before saying "They left all the money again".
"Yeah, just doesn't make a lick of sense. Who needs that much Dust?" The second one says
"I don't know, an army?" The first detective suggests
"You thinking the White Fang?"
"Yeah, I'm thinking we don't get paid enough."

"Hmm, the White Fang what an awful bunch of degenerates!" Schnee snidely remarks
"What's your problem?"
"I simply don't care for the criminally insane."
"There hardly insane, there just fighting for a better world for there kind" I speak up
"By hurting people and stealing" Schnee snaps
"So there a bit misguided, there doing it in the wrong way"
"Misguided? They want to wipe Humanity off the face of the planet!" Schnee raises her voice
"So then they're very misguided. Either way, it doesn't explain why they would rob a Dust shop in the middle of downtown Vale!"
"Maybe it was Torchwick, the guy you fought Ruby, you did say he got away" Yang intervenes
"True" Ruby nods

"Hey, stop that Faunus!" We hear someone shout from the docs and we turn to see two sailors trying to stop a faunas.

I turn away ignoring the commotion as i eye the store which had been robbed, it doesn't make sense. The White Fang would never need that much dust so why?

I refocus my attention to the faunas as he runs past us, I don't miss the wink sent in Blake's direction.
"Ooooh" I nudge my sister and she glares at me as we follow Schnee to, well, I don't know, probably following the faunas, Blake's admirer. "he got away!" She whines clearly being caught up in her own self importance to even notice the girl she had practically fallen on.
"Uhh... Weiss?" Blondie points at the girl on the floor and Schnee hastily gets to her feet in shock and slight horror.
"Salutations!" The ginger haired girl exclaims as she stays still on the floor
"Are you okay?" Ruby asks the girl and she nods
"Do you wanna get up?" Blondie asks and the girl replies with a firm
"Yes" as she nods once again "My name is Penny! It's a pleasure to meet you!" The girl exclaims and we all take a step back
"Hi Penny, I'm Ruby"
"I'm Weiss"
"Blake"
"Silver"
"Are you sure you didn't hit your head?" Blondie asks causing Blake to nudge her "oh I'm Yang"
"It's a pleasure to meet you" Penny says over enthusiastically
"You already said that" Schnee rudely remarks
"So I did"
"Well sorry for bumping into you" Schnee acknowledges before leading us off
"Take care friend" Ruby waves before following us
"She was weird" Blondie mutters
"Now where did that faunas run off too" Schnee asks as we all look around but as we turn back to look in front of us, we come face to face with Penny
"What did you call me?" She asks curiously
"I'm sorry I definitely didn't think you'd hear me" Blondie tries to get out of the grave she just dug for herself
"Not you, you" she goes to Ruby
"Me I don't-" Ruby stutters unsure
"You called me friend, am I really your friend?"
We all shake our heads behind Penny's backs but Ruby says
"Yeah sure" Blondie faints, as does Schnee and I just shake my head unimpressed
"Ooooh we can paint our nails and try on clothes and talk about cute boys" Penny gushes, this is giving me a headache.
"Is this what it was like when you met me?" Ruby asks Schnee though Schnee shakes her head and counters
"No she seems way more coordinated"
"So what are you doing in Vale?" Blondie ask the excitable girl
"I'm here to fight in the tournament" we all share a look of shock "I'm combat ready"
"You don't really look the type" Schnee quips
"Says the girl wearing a dress" Blondie snarks back
"It's a combat skirt"
"Yeah" Ruby high fives Schnee
"Wait if your here for the tournament does that mean you know that monkey-tailed... rapscallion?" Schnee asks
"The who?" She shows Penny a drawing, when did she do that, and Penny just looks more confused
"The filthy Faunus from the boat!" She snaps
"Why do you keep saying that?" Blake goes face to face with Schnee, this isn't going to end well
"Huh?" Schnee looks at her confused
"Stop calling him a rapscallion! Stop calling him a degenerate! He's a person!" She shouts passionately
"Oh I'm sorry" Schnee let's go of Penny "would you like me to stop referring to this trash can as a trash can or this lamppost as a lamppost"
"Stop it!" I try to stop both of them but this just spurs Schnee on
"Stop what? He was clearly breaking the law, give him time and I'm sure he'll join the White Fang"
"You ignorant little brat!" Blake finally breaks, I try to pull her back but she pushes me away
"Your gonna take me down with you" I whisper incoherently

"How dare you talk to me like that! I am your teammate!" Schnee sounds offended
"Your a judgmental little girl!" True but if I said that she'd have a go and say it's insensitive

"Okay this has gone far enough" I get between them "just stop or you're going to say things you don't mean" why am I the one trying to stop a fight? I'm usually the one who starts them, but someone has to be level headed

"What in the world makes you say that?" Schnee asks ignoring me
"Hello, can you see me?" I wave my hands like an idiot and before I can do anything else someone pulls me back
"Best not to get in the middle of it" Blondie tells me but I merely shake her hand off in response
"......just as much of a scoundrel as you believe him to be!" I tune in to see my sister shout at Schnee
"We should probably go" Blondie suggests
"You think Blondie!" I snarl as I walk ahead ignoring the incessant yelling behind me

Timeskip

All the way back neither of them would shut up, any other day I'd be cheering my sister on but right now I have a headache and I'm tired but unfortunately Blondie doesn't let me go to my dorm but instead pulls me into there's, joy.

"You realize you are defending an organization that hates Humanity, don't you? The Faunus of the White Fang are pure evil!" Schnee snaps as she gets off her bed
"There's no such thing as pure evil!" Blake snaps, though Taurus and Crimson are in my opinion, I consider silently "why do you think they hate humanity as much as they do? It's because of people like Cardin people like you that force the White Fang to take such drastic measures" she's close to crying, I can tell, she devoted the majority of her life to the White Fang as I did and she's still attached to it in a way
"People like me?" Schnee asks
"Your discriminatory!" Blake yells
"I'm a victim! You wanna know why I hate the White Fang so much, it's because the faunas have been at war with my family for years, war, actual bloodshed and since then my grandfather's company has had a target on its back and ever since I was a child I watched family members die, family friends vanish, dust stolen. When my dad came home he'd be so angry and that made for a very difficult childhood"
"Weiss" Ruby goes to comfort her but she pulls away
"No, you want to know why I despise the White Fang so much it's because they're a bunch of liars, thieves and murderers" she snaps
"Well maybe we were just tired of being pushed around" oh bloody hell, yeah drag me down with you why don't you, she gasps in shock after processing what she's just said and darts out the room, not before dragging me with her.

We stand in front of the statue at the front of the school
"Why are we here?" I ask
"I don't know"
"What are we doing?"
"I don't know"
"Where are we going?"
"I don't know"
"Then what do you know!?" I snap
"I'm sorry; okay" she brakes down, tears pouring down her face "I didn't know what to do I couldn't stand by and ignore it like you could"
"Hey I can't ignore it, it pisses me off too but it's easier to avoid confrontation" I explain as calmly as I can
"Says the girl who usually starts confrontations" she chuckles sadly
"I know, hilarious isn't it" we both chuckle "you don't need to hide who or what you are and there's no need to be embarrassed"
"Easy for you to say, you've never cared what people think" she mutters
"Of course I care, I just don't show it" I shrug and I watch Blake take out her bow

"I knew you'd look better without the bow" the faunas from before comments
