4 - "Something like that"

Phyrra's a badass, taking on the whole of team CRDL by herself, that's impressive. An easy victory for her.

"Miss Nikos comes out victorious"
"No kidding" I snort
"Now we have enough time to have two more fights, let's see." Goodwitch pauses and then makes eye contact with me, Crap! "Miss Belladonna" I roll my eyes before quipping
"There's two of us you'll have to be more specific" i snicker at the unimpressed expression that appears on the professor's face and I tilt my head to the side
"Right you are, Silver go and get your combat gear" she points to the room next to
"Joyful" I get up mumbling as I roll my eyes
"Now how about....."
"I'll do it" the green haired girl who I don't remember the name of volunteers
"Of course Miss....."
"Sustrai, Emerald Sustrai" she obliges
"Well done Miss Sustrai, you can also get your gear" she gestures to the door I had paused at

I go into the room and start getting changed in one of the many changing rooms, whilst I'm changing I hear another door shut presumably Emerald. I exit the small changing room and grab my weapon and go to head out

"Silver Belladonna isn't it?" I turn to come face to face with Emerald
"That's what they call me" I respond in a monotone voice
"Emerald Sustrai" she introduces herself as she holds out her hand for me to shake, I look at it, raise my brows and eventually give in shaking the girls hand "don't think I'll go easy on you" she laughs causing me to snort and head into the arena. We face each other on the podium, me twirling my spear
"Now as always you will fight until one of your auras' goes into the red" as she says this the screen above lights up and are faces are shown next to our aura level "get ready" I hold my spear at my side bored "and go" as I subconsciously predicted she took the first swing with her blades, which I easily deflect by spinning the spear in front of my face. I lower the spear and jump in the air and stab forwards but she jumps out of the way so I swing my leg behind me knocking her slightly off balance and I take the opening pushing her fully back almost knocking her off the podium. She hits back knocking my spear out of my hands so I use my semblance to go invisible this takes Emerald by surprise so whilst she's distracted I grab the spear and knock her back staying invisible, she takes a swing but misses me, she takes another swing and I block it deactivating my semblance.

Finally I knock her back hard and she slips and hits her head on the podium floor causing her aura to slip into the red.

"Miss Belladonna claims victory, well done" she nods and I return the gesture feeling out of breath but not showing it, I walk straight to the changing room and I change into my uniform as the next fighters are chosen. I go to leave the room when I'm stopped by Emerald.

"That was a good fight, that's a very helpful semblance in a tough situation" i eye her before moving around her and leaving; going to rejoin Ash.

"Mercury Black the second year on the same team as Emerald volunteered and wanted to fight Phyrra" He says like it's the most exciting thing ever, I shrug not interested

Timeskip

I cannot believe he forfeit, why fight her then. I turn around and spot the girl I was looking for
"Hey Sustrai" she turns towards me taken by surprise and raises a brow "why would he fight Phyrra if he was just going to forfeit? if he didn't think he could do it he shouldn't have bothered"
"He likes to challenge himself" she replies
"He's making himself look weak" I turn back towards the front as Goodwitch waits for the two to return
"Ignore her, he did great against Phyrra" Ash smiles flirty and I roll my eyes
"Yeah he did" Emerald agrees

"Keep up the good work everyone, the fights today were very impressive, now off you go. Miss Belladonna may I have a word?" Me and Blake turn around
"Which one Professor?" Blake asks
"Actually both of you come to think of it" we both walk over "Blake you cannot get out of the fights in class constantly, I don't know what's going on but you are here to improve your skills and you won't be able to do that without taking part" Blake looks down in slight shame
"My sisters a good fighter she doesn't need to fight in class to prove that" i snipe back
"Silver this is what I wanted to talk to you about"
"What?" I lazily question
"I have had some professors comment on your attitude, I understand that your growing up and your trying to find yourself and you wish to do things alone but you worked hard to gain access into this academy and we expect you to carry yourself with pride. Think about what your saying to people Silver or you may not have any friends left" she chastises
"I can handle that" I walk out quickly
"Silver! Silver!" My sister calls after me
"Go find your team or something and go mope around them" I snap

I leave the building and sit down on the grass pulling my legs to my chest. Stupid foot in mouth disease. Why can't you keep your mouth shut? I always thought honesty was the best policy but I guess not.

They're not going to change me I'm not going back to that pathetic pushover.

Flashback

Slap!

My hand goes straight to my cheek as it throbs in pain.

"You have to listen to me Silver!" He raises his voice again and I shudder as I slightly step back "do I scare you Silver, sweetheart?" I'm not making this mistake again, I quickly shake my head as I face the floor, I feel his fingers make there way to my chin to lift my face so my eyes meet his "look at me!" He takes a breath seemingly trying to calm himself, I gulp and shake my head "use your words Silver"
"No" I mutter
"No what?" He looks down on me
"No I'm not afraid of you" I meet his eyes
"Good girl" he kisses my cheek and I let out a breath I hadn't realised I was holding

"Crimson!"
"What!"
"Come here!"
"Duty calls sweetheart" he kisses me on the lips forcefully which leaves me breathless. Here we go again.

Present day

I should have dumped him much sooner, he was toxic but I thought I loved him so every time he kissed me I forgave him, every time he held me I felt safe, every time he whispered sweet nothings into my ear I thought he had changed. I will not allow anyone friend or otherwise to get so close to me again, he wasn't the only one who let me down.

I head towards my dorm and as I arrive I see Jaune playing a guitar asking Schnee to the dance as he sings, I watch with my eyebrows raised as Schnee says no and slams the door shut
"You alright Romeo?" He jumps and turns around
"Do you care?" He snaps back
"Ouch" I smirk
"Sorry I just, I just can't believe she keeps rejecting me, she's cold but she's also really sweet and amazing" I'm not great at this, I go to make an inappropriate and rude comment but I manage to stop myself and instead say
"Why don't you just tell her that instead of singing?" He turns to me surprised
"Just tell her, if you care so much just try" I turn around and head towards my door
"Silver!" I turn
"What?"
"Thanks"
"Whatever, don't mention this to anyone" I demand
"Don't want to ruin your reputation?" He asks laughing but I look at him deadly serious and say
"Something like that" before getting to my door and entering the room.
