2 - "Can't back out now"

"Mum you have to let us go or we're gonna miss the boat and then we'll miss the plane" I moan
"Aw I'm going to miss you two" she wipes away a tear
"Be good and try to stay out of trouble and most importantly look after each other" our father instructs
"We always do" we chorus "we love you" we again say in unison
"Love you, try to keep in touch" mum shouts as we board the boat

"Here we go" Blake mutters, I take her hand
"We'll be fine, we've survived much worse than going to school" she rolls her eyes
"Trust you to say that" I wink

We both keep our arms on the bars looking out at the water and watching Menagerie vanish right in front of our eyes as we go further out to sea.

"Let's hope we're on a team together" i break the silence
"Yeah I hope so" she expresses "don't think I'd be able to keep up a conversation with anyone else" she chuckles half-heartedly
"Same but I don't think it'll be that easy, even if we're on the same team there will be others" I nudge her breaking her out of her thoughts, she hums confirming she heard me.

Time skip

"The robbery was led by none other than Roman Torchwick who continues to evade authorities if you have any information on the whereabouts of Roman Torchwick please contact the Vale police"
"Damn" I mutter as I watch the screen with my sister
"In other news Faunas rights protest turned dark when the White Fang interrupted the protest" i glance at Blake whose eyes are practically glued to the screen "this once peaceful organisation has now disrupted...."
The screen goes down and is replaced by a hologram of a woman
"Hello and welcome to Beacon, my name is Glynda Goodwitch and you are the privileged few who have made it into this prestigious academy-" I tune the speech out as I look out the window, once the speech finishes others move over to the window in awe and my sister joins me
"Can't back out now" I voice
"Obviously" comes her short response

I hear someone retching and a girl screeching
"Get away from me" repeatedly. I spin around to see a blonde boy looking like he's about to throw up again by the looks of it and a young girl trying to get away from him. I shake my head unamused facing the window once again.

Finally the plane lands in front of the school and the boy from earlier heads straight for a bin to throw up. Me and Blake decide to check out the grounds a little, it is as beautiful as I imagined.

We continue to wander for a while and then find a place to sit to read for a moment until we hear a loud bang followed by a commotion.
A vial of dust lands in front of Blake's feet bringing us both back to reality (forcing us to put our books down) she picks it up and shows me the label, I look up at the girl who is yelling.....
Weiss Schnee

"I said I was sorry Princess!" the younger girl ,who was yelling 'get away from me' back on the plane, snaps at the
"It's heiress actually" i interrupt
"Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company one of the largest producers of energy repellent in the world" Weiss looks over and smirks
"Finally some recognition" she flares at the younger girl
"The same corrupt organisation that is well known for its controversial labor forces and questionable business partners" i speak truthfully but Weiss does not seem to appreciate this
"How dare-! The nerve of-!" She yanks the vial out of Blake's hand and leaves as the young girl in red and black shouts after her
"I promise I'll make this up to you!!" but me and Blake quickly turn and leave the situation heading towards the statue.

Soon after I drag Blake towards the entrance and on into the hall where Professor Ozpin begins his speech. "I'll keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge to hone your craft and acquire new skills. And when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step."

"deep" I whisper to Blake, she nudges me with her hand clearly telling me to shut up and I do when Glynda Goodwitch starts to speak

"You will gather in the barn tonight, tomorrow your initiation begins, be ready, you are dismissed" we begin to follow everyone else, and when we arrive I take my bag and me and Blake find a quiet place at the side where we put our sleeping bags down and get our books out hoping for some peace....

"HELLOOOOO!" Apparently not

I look up to see a girl with bright blonde hair making her way over to us "I believe you three may know each other" she gestures to the girl next to her who I do recognise, hard to forget someone exploding on their first day
"Aren't you that girl who exploded?" Blake asks getting straight to the point
"Yeahhhh I'm Ruby but you can just call me crater- actually you can just call me Ruby" i eye the girl curiously, she seems far too young to be attending Beacon
"Okaaaay" I mutter
"Sooo.... What's your names?" I huff annoyance clear in my voice
"Blake" I gesture to my sister "im Silver"
"Nice to meet you, I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister, I like your bows" she's so excitable
"Thanks" Blake mutters
"It goes great with your         pyjamas" is she going somewhere with this
"Right" blunt response from Blake again
"nice night don't you think?" The Blonde asks and I ignore her and roll my eyes
"It's lovely, almost as lovely as this book.....that I will continue to read, as soon as you leave" Blake rudely explains
"Yeah these girls are lost causes" ouch
"What's your book?"
"Huh?" I look up
"Your book what's it about? Does it have a name?" She asks
"It's about a man with two souls both fighting for control over his body" i sum up
"That's grea-" Blondie starts
"I love books, Yang used to always read to me before bed, stories about hero's and monsters, that's why I want to become a huntress" Ruby tells us
"What your hoping to live happily ever after?" I snort at Blakes question
"I'm hoping we all will, as a kid I always wanted to be like the heroes in the books, someone who fought for what was right"
"Unfortunately real life isn't like that" I speak up
"Well that's why we're here to make it better"
"Aw I'm so proud of my baby sister" the two sisters start to play fight looking like there suffocating each other
"Well it was nice to meet you Yang and Ruby" Blake speaks though I doubt they heard her
"What on earth is going on over here? some people are trying to sleep" Schnee moans
"Oh not you again!" Both Yang and Weiss shout
"She's right people are trying to sleep" Ruby stutters
"Oh now your on my side" I roll my eyes as Schnee snaps
"I've always been on your side" Ruby argues back
"What's your problem with my little sister?" talk about big sister mode
"She's a hazard to my health" I roll my eyes and blow out the candle I had been using to see the pages of the book and I drift into a dreamless sleep.
