"Oh come on! You didn't even hear us out!" Blondie clasps the bars getting as close to the knucklehead guards as possible
"The border is closed!" One of the guards barks, they have got to be twins, I cross my arms. Qrow approaches pulling Blondie back who huffs
"Look if you don't want to believe I'm friends with Ironwood.."
"General Ironwood!" They both interrupt
"My gosh has he got you two under his thumb" I roll my eyes, the guards turn to me bending down to see me through their ridiculous head wear
"Silver" Qrow hisses "yes General Ironwood, if you don't want to believe we're friends then fine but I have Weiss Schnee here, and we're just trying to get her home" he gestures to Weiss who looks less than impressed at being used to make a point
"Approach!" One of the guards, who knows which one, calls out and Weiss hesitantly approaches the bars, they lean down again to see her.
"Very well" one starts
"You may speak to the commanding officer" they both turn and march off so in sync you'd mistake one of them for a mirror.
"They were kind of....." Blake's voice fades out
"Weird" Little Rose finishes
"Yeah" Blake nods
"Hmmm" we all turn to Maria
"What?" Qrow questions her
"Well i may know this commanding officer"
"That's great, if she's a friend of yours then maybe it will be easier to convince her to let us through" Little Rose beams
"I wouldn't call us friends" Maria wonders aloud
"Acquaintances?" Coral asks from the back of the group
"No"
"Colleagues?" Ash asks
"Warmer" she states, I sigh rubbing my brows
"Enemies?"
"That's the one" she points at me
"What?!" Oscar's mouth falls open
"Great, just great" I throw my arms up
"I come through here about once every ten years to get my eyes checked in Atlas. You bring outside Cashews on one flight and your put on the additional screening list for life"
"Lady you have got to be kidding me!" I rub my brows
"Don't worry dear, maybe she's dead" I snort
The gates loudly open and the guards appear once again, this should go well
"Introducing special operative" the first one starts
"Caroline Cordovin" they each move to opposite sides revealing a short-statured woman who must be around Maria's age, she dawns a look of superiority and is wearing Atlesian officer attire.
She walks straight up to Maria
"Witch"
"She-devil"
Great they are acting like children
"I see you've brought larger contraband to smuggle on this time" she gestures to all of us
"Oh Cordo they say time changes people but I see you still have that stick right up your-"
"Hello Miss Cordovin" Little Rose quickly cuts Maria off
"You've got a point" I mutter to Maria who chuckles
"I'm Ruby Rose and I was hoping you would hear us out-"
"I've already heard what your other friends had to say" she peaks behind us "I thought I told you not to come back here!" She yells, I turn in time to see Jaune, Nora, Ren and Sapphire trying to splutter out some excuses
"You civilians" she practically spits the word out as if it dirties her just be saying it "can't seem to comprehend the mission we have here in Argus. So let me enlighten you in simple terms. This base! That relay tower!" She gestures to it "the safety of Argus are all gifts from the glorious kingdom of Atlas" the guards wave Atleasian flags behind her "and it is my duty to uphold them, as I am the only one who has the wit and tenacity to do so"
"She's so full of herself" I mutter to Maria who nods back in agreement
"Such wit!" One guard calls
"Such tenacity!" The other calls
How much is this woman paying them to symply boost her ego?
"Or Atlas wanted to get you as far away from them as possible" Maria adds
"I can see that" I jump on nodding
"You're just like the rest of these Argus ingrates!" Cordovin growls at Maria "this city wouldn't be here without our Atlesian ancestors, and what do we get in return? The world is ready to put a knife to our throats"
"We were there at the fall of Beacon" Coral speaks up
"We know you had nothing to do with what happened" Little Rose tries to settle the atmosphere
"No one's happy with the Atlas borders but I know General Ironwood is just worried. That's why we need to speak to h..." Weiss is interrupted
"The General is no coward. Atlas will prevail! The rest of the world wants to make us their enemy then so be it, Atlas will prevail!"
"Atlas will prevail!" The guards call
"do you need to do that, do you need to kiss her a..."
"Silver!" Little Rose stops me
"If miss Schnee has come to her senses I will of course have the Atlas military escort her home, but we will not be responsible for her friends of..........questionable character" i go to speak but Weiss gets there first
"What's that supposed to mean?!" Cordovin's hit a nerve
"It means we're done here" she quickly leaves and the gates shut
"That woman's got some serious issues" I speak up loud enough for her to hear me of course
"Silver!" Little Rose complains
"Well your face looks like a big dumb boot!" Nora shouts after her once she approaches us
"Way to show her Nora" jaune pats her shoulder
Weiss looks concerned and I leave her and her team to have there moment.
"So what's the plan?" Nora asks once it seems team RWBY are finished with their emotional support moment
"The plan" Qrow splutters "the plan fell through, we're done, I'm going for a drink"
"Uncle Qrow!" Little Rose calls before quickly catching up to him, the rest of us following behind "I really think we should try and think of something..." Qrow walks off ignoring her "together" she mutters
We all look at each other none of us knowing what to do, since no one else moves I step forward and place a hand on Little Roses shoulder, she looks up and smiles sadly at me
"What's his problem?" Jaune asks "it's not your fault"
"If he's gonna be a jerk then we'll come up with a plan without him. We have Ozpin he'll know what to do" Nora points to Oscar
Awkward.
"What is it?" Ren asks catching our uncomfortable looks
"Perhaps we should get back first" Little Rose starts
"Why? What is it?" Jaune asks concern lacing his voice
"Better be behind closed doors to speak about this" I suggest
"Silvers right" Blake perks up
The walk back is quiet, an uncomfortable silence has fallen upon us all, this will not be taken well.
