Chapter 89: Arrival at the Neko Planet

I've decided for rewrite this entire story in a separate book. I already have the prologue and cover! I hope to do a chapter a week - since I've already written the original, it'll be easy to rewrite chapters on a consistent basis. I'll post about it after this is done with some updates!

(Yes, the main plot points will be the same. Just some updated writing/jokes/nuances! + a dope wedding scene and more epilogue)

(though i totally get why people didn't believe me, have you seen my track record? rip)

Enjoy this last arc. It won't be nearly as emotional as the other ones, but it will be dramatic (because it's me we're talking about oOPS)

After the neko planet arc, we'll wrap up this book and launch into the next xReader. I haven't been on Wattpad for a hot second and I just want to thank you all again for sticking with me. This book took longer than it needed, and that's entirely my fault. To everyone who has ever voted, commented, waited for my sparse updates, or hell even opened this book, thank you so so much. You guys mean EVERYTHING to me and I'm so humbled by all the views and kind words and feedback you've given me.

I've made a resolution to write more this year. I can't promise anything, since I'm nearing the end of high school and the pressure is building, especially for college. But there will be WAY more updates (not 6-month gaps).

Basically: thank you guys. I don't deserve y'all, and I hope I can do better this year. <3

As the Planet Express ship neared the destination, you couldn't help but feel uneasy again. Bender picked up on it and pulled you aside into the kitchen, while Leela piloted the aircraft.

"You look worried. What's up?" he asked gruffly. You hopped up on the counter. "I... I will admit, although I pushed for this idea, I can't help but feel worried." You found yourself talking quickly, spilling all your anxieties over the situation. "What if the planet's not even there? The information is 20 years old, and with nekos, a lot can happen in 20 years. What if it's desolate and no one is living there? What if..." your voice got quiet. "What if I really am the last one?" You whispered, your eyes involuntarily filling with tears.

You could tell Bender felt guilty, but he did a good job of hiding it.

"That's what worries me..." Bender said earnestly, then looked away. "...I don't think you're the only one."
"Really?"
Bender nodded.
"But why would that worry you?" you cocked your head.
"It's whatever," Bender grumbled. Before you could open your mouth to prod, you heard Leela yell "We're here!"

When the landing pad finally reached the ground, you felt the sinking realization pool into your stomach.

It really was desolate.

It looked as if you all were standing on what used to be a sidewalk. Small houses lined up in rows, each one more destroyed than the last. The roofs were caved in, the wood snapping and splintering, and some of them were more of a pile than an actual structure.

The rest of the team, like you, were completely speechless. As if on cue, a tumbleweed-like plant rolled out from underneath a house and into the distance. That was the last straw and you began to tremble, knowing that tears were near.
