PLEASE DO SO ACTUALLY. THERE IS ONLY SO MANY THINGS I CAN DO UGH.
***"It's fine. I'm good." You shuffled uncomfortably. You shot Bender a warning glance. He picked up on it immediately and splashed everyone, causing them to forget about you temporarily. You breathed a sigh of relief. It was going to be much longer than you had thought. You sat there, watching them play.
You didn't even realize it had finally turned 12 noon until Fry started complaining that he was hungry. Oh right, the sandwiches, you thought. You went back to the ship quickly and brought out the huge stack of sandwiches. When you came back, everyone else had got out of the water and were drying off.
"I made you guys sandwiches," you said somewhat shyly, holding out the tray that had a sandwich tower on it.
"Wow, thanks (Y/N)! I brought some snacks, but sandwiches are much better." Leela grinned. Bender gave his impressed face while Zoidberg grabbed a handful. You smiled at everyone as you put down the tray on one of the chairs. Everyone gathered around it, taking a few at a time. You took 2 for yourself before letting them eat the rest. You grinned. You liked making others happy.
"Hey (Y/N), can I talk to you?" Bender asked casually.
"Huh? Oh yeah, uh, sure." You said uncertainly. Leela cast you two a look as you both walked away from the group. After you had walked far enough so that they couldn't hear you, Bender asked the question."Why didn't you want to go in the water? And why did you send me that weird look?"
"Well... You see..." You fumbled. "I'm part cat... And, well, I don't exactly know how to swim..." You winced.
"Why not?" Bender said, not taking the hint.
You sighed. "Cats don't like water." You said meekly.
Bender thought for a moment then smacked himself on the forehead with his palm. "Of course! Duh! Why did I not think about it?! I'm sorry." Bender said.
"It's fine, really! I just don't know how to swim... And I'm not really comfortable going into the water... So as long as I stay on the beach, I'll be fine!" You said cheerfully."Okay. Should I tell the others?" Bender asked.
"Well, I guess you could. Or you could just say that I feel more comfortable on land." You told him.
"Okay, got it. Thanks for letting me know."
"Thanks for picking up on the look I gave you." You smiled. Then you walked back to the group. You saw Bender ask the Professor something, but you didn't hear anything. You brushed it off and looked at the remains of the sandwiches. There were only a few left. "Wow, they were hungry." You murmured to yourself as you made yourself comfortable once more on the beach chair.Another hour passed. The Professor went to go do something in the Planet Express ship while everyone else kept switching between going in the water and making sand castles. Then the Professor walked out of the ship, holding something in his hand.
"Bender, I managed to find a way to remake it!" The Professor said triumphantly.
Bender got out of the water and walked to the Professor. Now you were intrigued.
Bender gestured you over, holding the thing in his hand. You walked over, not quite sure what to expect. Bender ushered you away from everyone else, who were giving you two weird glances.
"Here, put this on." Bender said once we were out of earshot. He gestured to his hand which had a weird device with a nose piece attached to it.
"Why?" You scrunched up your nose.
"It'll let you breathe underwater." Bender smiled. You thought about this and let out a sigh. "I..." You began. You were still not completely up to the idea of going in the water, breathing device or not. You closed your eyes and realized that your heart was racing.
"I'll... try..." You mumbled, taking it from Bender uncertainly. You put on. You probably looked ridiculous.
"Is this right?" You muttered.
"I think so."
"...okay..."Bender walked into the water and gestured. "Well, c'mon!"
You bit your lip. You're making this harder for everyone, you thought. Just go in the water...
"I-I..." You looked at him shakily. Bender rolled his eyes and walked up to you."Do you trust me?" Bender asked calmly.
"W-what?"
"Do you trust me?" Bender said again.
You looked down. "Y-yes. Yes I do."Bender held out his hand. You hesitantly took it. You walked with Bender into the water. The feel of water on your legs made you shiver. It wasn't a feeling you were used to.
All of a sudden, Bender drops himself into the water, dragging you into the water with him. You let out a gurgled scream as you went down to the depth of the sea.
Yet somehow you could breathe.
However, you were panting, frozen in fear. Bender floated next to you. He gave you a thumbs up. You took deep breaths and then gave him a shaky thumbs up back.
Underwater, he hugged you. "I'm here." He gurgled.
"Thank you." You gurgled back. You smiled. It was nice having someone who could help you through things. You stared in amazement at the fish. There were so many, all different colors, all different sizes, all in groups. It was beautiful.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, you and Bender stayed down there for way longer than you (or anyone) had planned.
