Chapter 13: Relief

Your heart froze.

"B...B-Bender?" Your voice refused to work. You wished you could stand up but your legs were still numb from whatever they did to you in the year 4000.

"(Y/N)." he said softly and gave a small electronic smile. He came over to the side of the bed and hugged you. You were still in shock (no pun intended) from him being there, but finally, you put your left arm around him and hugged him back. Only then did you realize that your right arm was now wrapped up in a bandage. You still couldn't move it.

"Bender! You're...you're alive! How? I...I'm confused..." You blubbered, words finally returning to your dry mouth.

"It was all a plot to see if you were actually sorry, rather than just pretending." he admitted quietly.
"So...I'm not in the year 4000? Really?"

He smiled.

"Really."

You smiled too and hugged him again. Or rather, half-hugged him with your left arm.

"Look Bender. I've been wanting to say something from the moment I morphed into a human..." You trailed off, then looked into his eyes too see if he was waiting.

He nodded.

You looked away as tears poured down your face. "I...I'm sorry. I really am! I never meant for this to happen and I never got that chance to tell you that. The reason I got so scared that I was part of the 41st century was because I thought that I would've never gotten the chance to tell you that!" You sobbed quietly.

Bender, feeling bold, put a hand under your chin and pulled your face towards him so he could see your tear-stained eyes.

"Actually, I'm sorry too. I should've accepted you for who you were. You could've run away anytime you wanted, but you didn't because you cared. It was not my place to yell at you, because you are the best friend anyone could ask for. Cat or otherwise."

You sniffled and wiped away your tears with your left hand.

"You mean it?"
"Duh."

You smiled.
