It was nighttime.

Dinner had gone well, full of laughter and fun. You smiled at the thought. Your life had completely changed ever since you met him.

By him, you meant Bender.

You had shelter, food, an indoor toilet...and plenty of friends. You couldn't be happier.

You thought about what had happened today. You'd been kidnapped, sentenced to death, saved, taught cooking, and praised.

What a day, huh? You thought to yourself.

"What are you doing here?" You heard a familiar voice.

"Don't sound so accusing, I'm just admiring the view!" You laughed, leaning on the railing as Bender materialized behind you.

"You humans and your overdramatic loads of crap." Bender sighed.

You laughed again. "Yeah, we are pretty full of crap." You agreed.

Silence passed between the two of you.

"Are you good at keeping secrets?" Bender said, out of the blue. He leaned on the railing too, right next to you.

"Yes. Yes I am. I still have untold secrets my mom told me and she's dead." You said bluntly, swallowing a lump that had formed in your throat.

Bender didn't look at you as he asked the question.

"How would you define love?" He asked quietly.

You thought about it.

"Well, I personally believe that it is when you care able someone's needs, sometimes even above your own." You answered. You then backtracked. "But what does this have to do with keeping secrets?"

"Don't tell anyone I asked you." Bender said curtly.
"No problem."

You then bit your lip, a question nagging at the corner of your mind.

"Speaking of which: did you really mean it when you said that you...that...that I fried your love circuit?" You blurted.

"Nope, I was just trying to save your life," Bender looked at you and shrugged.

You desperate searched for any sign of sarcasm, something, anything that told you that he meant what he had said earlier, but you couldn't find anything. You felt tears prick your eyes. To think that he loved you. Idiot.

"Oh," was all you could get out in response.

"So you're not in love with me then." You clarified.

"Of course not." Bender said a tad too quickly. No, he said it normally: You were just looking for says that he could possibly still like you, but you knew better.

"But I heard you talking to yourself before you realized that I wasn't dead, and you were beating yourself up for saying that you liked me and-" You persisted but you were cut off.

"I was still acting. I thought that I still had to convince them or something. And I wasn't beating myself up. I was annoyed that I had used such a crummy excuse." Bender said. You knew your imagination wasn't failing you - he was becoming defensive. You decided to keep persisting, while laughing a bit. Laughing helped ease the fact that Bender had led you on quite harshly.

"But how do I know for sure?" You chuckled. Bender and you were now facing each other. He glared at you annoyedly.

"Because I don't, jeez..."
"But still-"
"BECAUSE I SAID NO!" Bender said loudly, exasperated.

"Prove it," you said playfully, a smile tugging at your lips.

"FINE!" Bender huffed.

And with that, he leaned in and kissed you.
