We walked down the street lit path in silence, like we both had something to say but just wouldn't. Every stride he took made his hand gently brush against mine like he was either too nervous to hold my hand or he was trying to hint at me.
I was looking ahead as we walked but I noticed out of the corner of my eye that he kept staring and smiling at me. I quickly turned to look at him, catching him off guard.
"What..why are you looking at me like that?" I asked curiously.
He quickly turned away, flustered in the act. "Nothing." He says, barely loud enough for me to hear.
I knew there was something he wanted to say, and it killed me to not know what it was.
I wanted to hold his hand or grab his arm and walk down the street, just the two of us, cause it just felt so right. I looked ahead and saw we were approaching his street once again and if I didn't have the nerves to hold onto him now, I definitely wouldn't be able to later.
"May I?" I asked shyly as I put my hand on his arm.
"Yes, of course." He smiled and turned away, trying to hide that he wanted me to do that as much as I did.
We finally approach the house and head back inside. Everyone else had gone to bed so it was just us in the living room.
He turned on the fireplace and grabbed a blanket for the two of us.
"There we go, much better. You seemed a little cold on our walk." He said with a smirk.
We sat down for a bit before deciding to order some food.
"Shit." He said under his breath.
"None of the places are open for delivery, we'd have to drive there."
"Oh. That's alright, I don't mind driving us." I said.
So on the road we went.
We listened to music and I was being an idiot singing all the words and doing stupid little dances as I drove. I wish I could explain to you the way he looked at me in that moment. It's the look someone gives you when they realize they're falling in love with you. But I didn't want to think that much into it because I could feel that I was getting ahead of myself and already moving too fast.
We grabbed our food and headed back for the house.
When we got back to the house we put on a movie and ate our food, well, we barely even watched the movie to be honest, we just talked and laughed the entire time.
Before I knew it I looked at the time and it was already 4 am...
Time went by so fast that I didn't even realize that I had been at his house for 10 hours.
"Holy shit, it's really late, haha, guess I should head back home" I sad in a sad tone.
"It's pretty late and it's snowing! Why don't you just stay the night?" He asked
Stay the night? Is he assuming something is going to happen tonight? Shit. Did I lead him on too much without trying?
Noticing my confused face and how I didn't respond right away he stuttered as he responded.
"Oh, I mean, you can stay over if you'd like."
Okay so he definitely noticed my slight discomfort...don't get me wrong, I actually wanted to stay over so bad, but, I felt that was something was almost expected of me if I had stayed.
"Oh that's alright, I think it'd be better if I headed home tonight, but thank you for the offer!"
We sat on the couch for what was supposed to be 5 minutes that turned into an hour. I remember making some stupid joke and laughing about it then looking over and saw the way he was looking at me. It was the same way he looked at me on our walk tonight.
I just giggled and got flustered. "What...hah, why are you looking at me like, tell meeee."
He had a big grin on his face and turned away again. "Nothing."
"Bullshit!" I shouted in a sassy tone. "I know it's something and good sir I think you should tell me."
Maybe I was being too forward but I couldn't help it, the way he looked at me was like he was saying a thousand words with his eyes.
You could see the hesitation on his face. "One day. One day I'll tell you what it is."
No matter how much I wanted to say something and continue to bug him, I knew there was a reason he didn't wanna tell me, so I left it...for now.
I won't lie, I really wanted to kiss him goodbye. But something about him made me want to take things slow, and I was ok with waiting.
So we hugged goodbye and I headed out for my 2 hour drive home.
