"Tell me why is Kaia here again?" Hunter asked as he pulled Ayla to the kitchen.
"Taker is on the road with you, so he told me to take care of her while he's gone" Ayla answered, not looking at Hunter in the eye, instead walking towards the fridge.
"Where's Michelle? Why all of a sudden? I mean, I don't mind if Kaia wants to stay here, but I'm just curious" Hunter said, following right behind her.
"Michelle is going on a field trip to Chicago for her basketball team. Both are on the road, so they told me to take care of Kaia for the time being" Ayla said. Luckily she prepared this earlier, knowing Hunter's curious nature.
"For two weeks?" Hunter asked, following Ayla to the counter top as she took a bottle of milk and pouring it into a glass.
"It was just an estimation, Hunter. If her team goes to the finals, then yes, two weeks. Or if they lose in between, Michelle would be back to pick her up" Ayla said, gulping down her glass of milk. Michelle is a basketball coach for a bunch of teens in Texas. Michelle had always been bringing her team on field trips and competitions and stuff, so Hunter actually bought the lie.
"I guess so. Are you sure you can handle a baby?" Hunter asked.
Ayla chuckled. "Hunter, she's 5! She's not a baby anymore. I'll be fine"
"Well, you're 18 and you're still a baby" Hunter shrugged, a slight smile at the corner of his lips.
Ayla squinted her eyes, looking at the man in front of her. "Am not"
"Oh yes you are"
"That's so not true"
"Oh yes it is, baby"
"Proof?"
"Shawn and I call you baby"
"That doesn't make me a baby"
"You've got milk over your lips" Hunter said, making Ayla's eyes go wide. She checked on the mirror to find a line of milk formed over her lips. Clumsy.
Hunter giggled at her reaction as she tried to lick off the milk stains on her mouth. She turned back towards him and sat at the counter, pretending nothing happen, making Hunter laugh harder.
"You see what I mean?" Hunter pointed out.
Ayla rolled her eyes. "Nahh, I'm just clumsy"
"Whatever you say, your highness" Hunter shook his head, a wide smile still on his face. He got up as Ayla made her way to the living room where Stephanie was with Kaia and Cameron.
"Hello, little Taker. Wanna go play outside?" Ayla said, excitedly as she picked up the 5 year old. She looked a lot like Michelle nowadays. And the kid is really, really tall for her age. Her shoulder level blonde hair went perfectly with her blue eyes.
"Yes!" Kaia squealed, wrapping her arms around Ayla's neck.
"Can I join?" Cameron asked, standing beside Ayla and holding one of Kaia's hands.
"Yes, Uncle Cam" Kaia nodded, her eyes shining brightly.
"Let's go" Ayla said and Kaia cheered happily.

Ayla peaked over the tree with Kaia peaking below her as well. The leaned back on the tree as they two looked at each other and nodded.
"Alright, soldier, once you see him, fire him with this gun" Ayla said as she held up her water gun.
"You got it, partner" Kaia nodded, lifting her water gun as well.
