The Chosen One

Day Fifteen

A few days after the store was overrun, I got separated from Alex and Liam.  I was locked inside of a supply closet at a hospital.  The door was secured with a crowbar.  I was scared and tired.  They became a big part of my life within a short amount of time.

----Alex

"There is no way she left the city on her own."  Liam said.

"Right.  We need to go through building after building.  She's smart.  I'm sure she found a safe place to hide."  I said.

----Melinda

The door was slammed into and I cried pressing my face into the jacket Liam gave me.  I swallowed my fear and climbed up and into the heating ducts of the building.  I was careful because who knows if a vent is going to fall like in the movies.

One of the zombie appeared in front of me, I turned the other way and crawled as fast as I could.  I spotted a light on the other side of the fan and managed to fit through the space.  I fell onto the ground and the zombie fell beside me.

I kicked it in the head screaming in anger and fear.

I could hear a scream down the road.  I looked at Alex and he looked at me.  We ran in the direction of the scream and saw the hospital was surrounded, but not too bad.

I saw Mel about 4 stories up, she had kicked down a grate that covered one of the vents.  "Mel!"  Alex said.  She saw us.

Seeing my guys gave an entire new sense of relief.  I looked down below and there was a dumpster full of bags.  The zombie things were crowding the front door a large distance away.

I jumped down and braced myself for the fall.  I opened my eyes when I landed, the landing didn't really hurt.  I crawled to the edge and stood up.  Alex and Liam were waiting for me.

I climbed over the edge and Alex helped me down.  I pressed my face into his neck and Liam hugged me from behind.  I was stuck between my favorite men.

"Are you hurt?"  Alex asked.

"No.  Just tired."  I said.

We found another store, the next town over that was in perfect shape.  Alex went to check things out and block the doors.  Liam was sitting beside me making sure I was okay while I laid on the soft mattress in the bed section.

I slid my fingers over his which got his attention.  "Get some rest."  He said.

"Are you and Alex going to sleep?"  I asked.

"The building is secure.  I don't see why not."  Alex said walking over.  He set his bag down and they both kicked off their boots before taking off their shirts and climbing into bed with me.

I brushed my fingertips over Liam's cheek then over Alex's cheek.  "Sleep."  Liam said.

"Am I really here?  Am I really out of that hospital?"  I asked tears in my eyes.

"Yes.  You're safe baby."  Alex said.  I fell asleep with them holding me.
