----Melinda

It's been a little over a day since my emergency surgery and I was already awake.  I was sitting up in bed when Alex came in.  "It's about time you showed up."  I said.

"I didn't know you'd be awake already."  He said, he gave me a soft kiss.

"Talk the doctor into letting me eat.  Babies and I are starving."  He smiled.

"She can eat."  The doctor said.

"I'll get you something to eat.  I'll be back.  Don't go anywhere."  Alex said.

"I'm officially on bed rest most of the day."  I said.  He gave me a soft kiss before leaving.

----Liam

I returned to the compound and stumbled into the infirmary.  Alex was here with Mel.  I hit the floor.

----Melinda

"Liam!"  I tried to move.

"Don't move."  Alex said, he helped doc get Liam up and into a bed.

"Is he bit?"  He asked.

"No."  Alex said checking Liam over.

"Alex."  I said.

"Melinda, stay put."  Alex said.  Nick came running in with Carly.  "Carly."  He said pointing at me.  He pulled the curtain shut behind Carly.

Panic set in when they were helping Liam and I hadn't heard anything for over an hour.  "Melinda, it's okay.  You need to calm down."  Carly said.  "Doc!"

"Just a minute."  He said.

----Alex

Doc looked at me.  "Go.  Melinda needs to calm down."  I washed the blood from my hands and went to Melinda.  I grabbed the oxygen mask and held it over her mouth and nose.

"Carly, go find out what happened to Liam."  I said.  She hesitated.  "I got her.  Go."  She ran out.  I moved Melinda carefully and sat on the floor against the wall with her.  I cradled her in my chest.  "Listen to me.  Breathe.  Feel my breathing okay?"  He put my hands on his chest and leaned his forehead against mine.

Once she was calm, she managed to fall asleep.  I settled her in the hospital bed.  I fixed her bandage and Doc stepped around the curtain.

"He's going to be fine.  Probably unconscious for a while.  He lost a lot of blood.  Luckily they found some at the hospital and kept it safe and stored properly.  She alright?"

"I managed to get her to sleep."

"Her body is under a large amount of stress.  I want you to take her home tomorrow morning.  She can come see him, but she will worry more if she's stuck in here watching and waiting."  I nodded.  Carly came in with Cam and Larissa.

"A bunch of zombies crowded them, Hank who did not return tried to use Liam as bait.  There was a fight and Hank stabbed Liam a few times."  Cam said.  "Is he alive?"  I nodded.

"If that son of a bitch comes back, I get to see him first."  I said.

"Alex."  Cam said.

"You have no idea how close Melinda is to both Liam and myself.  If she loses either one of us, it would be the end of it for her.  Don't even start with if he dies she still has me because I wouldn't have her."  I said walking out.

----Melinda

When I woke up, Alex was leaning against the wall watching over me.  "Alex."  I said with a sob.  "I'm sorry."  I said, he got beside me.

"Don't be.  Liam is going to be fine.  You are going back home in the morning.  I'll bring you over when you want, but doc wants you to be somewhere less stressful."  I nodded, his hand caressed my face.  I pulled him by his shirt and he kissed me.  He pulled away slightly, his lips brushed mine.  "You're going to make me start something I can't finish.  We don't want to give doc a heart attack either."  He said.  He grabbed a bag and moved so he was sitting beside me, he put an arm around me and used his other hand to grab stuff out of the bag.

"Doritos?"  I said excited.  He smiled.

"Liam and I have successfully noted every craving you have had so far."  He said.

"But where's the..."  He grabbed out a jar of peanut butter.  I squealed happily.  He laughed.

"I made a special stop yesterday before I heard about your medical emergency."  He said.

"If I wasn't recovering from major surgery..."  I said.

"Oh, I will be waiting."  He said with a smile.  I kissed his cheek.

"Thank you so much."  I said before settling beside him eating my Doritos.
