Special Delivery

Carly and I were having class for the kids, Rachel and Riley coloring in their color books Alex and Liam got for them.  Carly was about 32 weeks along and I was about 30.

Liam and Alex were staying at the compound, so we're Jack and the captain.  "Breech!"  I heard.  The kids scattered to look for their parents.  Alex and Liam came running over.  Alex picked up Rachel and Riley.  Liam scooped me up, Jack scooped up Carly and we were taken to the main house.

Everyone gathered in the safe room.  The men went to fight off the herd and get them away.  "Alex!  Liam!"

"Stay here."  Liam said.  His hand slid from mine and so did Alex's as they got pushed away from me.

We got the herd away from the compound and we were assessing the damage.  It was bad.

We got to the main house and Melinda ran to me.  I caught her in a hug.  Rachel and Riley went to Liam.  "We have to work on rebuilding.  The next compound is about two to three days drive from here."  Liam said.

Carly and I were in the back of the van with Rachel, Riley, Larissa and Eve.  Alex looked at me when I climbed into the middle seat.  "Hey."  He said.

"It's a little crowded back there.  I'm already getting kicked in the ribs."  I said.  He put his arm around me tucking me against his side.

"Liam wants us to stop at the next town.  There's that department store."  I kissed his cheek.  Liam was in the truck ahead, clearing a path when necessary.

We got to our next stop and the guys went to clear the building except Alex.  Alex stayed with me.  Jack and the captain walked over and Carly went to them.  They hugged her.

I put Rachel and Riley to bed and went to join the other adults.  Liam looked up and sat back in the chair.  I climbed into his lap and he wrapped his arms around me.

Alex handed me a bag of Doritos.  "The world goes to hell and all you can eat Doritos."  Alex said with a smile.

Jack ran over,  "Carly's having pain."  Doc followed Jack and Liam let me up, I went with.  The captain was with Carly holding her against his side.

I returned to Alex and Liam.  "Is she okay?"  Liam asked.

"Braxton Hicks.  Her body is under a lot of stress.  We have to get somewhere safe.  I think she'll go into labor soon."  I said.

Rachel and Riley came over just as I was starting to doze off.  Alex and Liam helped them up.  "I'll help with first watch, I'll switch off with you in a few hours."  Alex said.  Liam nodded.

Morning came, I woke up, Alex woke up feeling me move.  "Good morning."  He said.

"Good morning."  I said.  He kissed cheek.  I brushed my nose against his, giving him a soft kiss.
