16. The Wolf Pack

I quickly got up, it was just a dream, but it felt so real. I was panting heavily feeling air escape my lungs. After a while I calmed down and decided to work on the garden, I had a few ideas; some flower bushes here a few around some trees, there were already trees and a pond, so I moved a few things here and there making a pathway in the garden, I found a small bridge that could be used to walk across it.

after a few hours I placed a few decorations around the garden so it sort of looked nice. I was dead tired, consequently, I took a seat at the steps from the house to the garden "whoa!!" I heard everyone say as the door opened "I know, it's awful" then I got smacked on the head "it's looks good. Show us around silly" said Jasmine smiling, I nodded and motioned to the garden "well, welcome to my excuse for a garden" the three of them walk towards it, though Jasmine flicked my nose every time I would make a bad comment about some stuff "stop it silly" she would keep repeating.

As I showed them around they couldn't stop smiling, soon the 'tour' finished and I said "well that's it for Brian's regular garden" no sooner I was smacked by, oh I wonder who, "it's a garden worthy of Demeter, and you know it" said Jasmine smiling, but quickly looked serious "uh....gotta go, see you guys later" with no more words she flew off, Kat and Jack said how good the garden looked and then went back inside. When I was about to walk in, I remembered the flower the old man gave me. I went to get it, it's petals were white and for a flower it was rather big, I tried planting it, but I realized it had been on the light all day long; yet it didn't bloom, I did what I thought was right and planted it where the sun wasn't shining.

After I poured some water on the flower it quickly bloomed which made me smile "ah...good job young one" a voice said behind me, I jumped in surprise and turned around only to see the old man from before "you managed to make the flower bloom, and for that you've proved worthy of this" he said holding out a letter "take it to the Hoshido building, take the elevator to the 60th floor, and give it to mister Yukiteru Kirijo. he'll tell you what it means" he had a smile, but he looked sad, I could see it in his eyes "well. These old bones aren't helping I better go back home, and child... I did this out of love for what I do and I believe you are the hope we need" without any more words he left.

After a while I walked to the Hoshido building, it didn't look any different from any business building, I walked in and headed towards the elevator when someone stopped me and started talking in Japanese, the only thing I could think of was showing the letter, then said person stopped talking, bowed and moved out of the way. I was riding the elevator to the 60th floor and I obviously got bored so I listened to some Ed Sheeran elevator music, the elevator later opened and all I could see was a desk and someone behind it, on the plate it said 'Kirijo Yukiteru', once close enough I gave him the letter, he just stared at me and read it. Soon his eyes were glassy from the tears building up, he then looked at me and shakily said "mister Sakurai Hoshido, has passed on, and he gave the company's wealth to you; the only one who could make the flower bloom". I stood there in shock, giving away a company to a total estranger because of a flower? .... Well I'm sure he had his reasons.

I was quickly thrown into a meeting room; many people in suits were there, staring at me, one stood up and rubbed his forehead "mister Hoshido has found a heir; he never truly had a family so feel honored" he said in broken English, then he sat down. Yukiteru motioned me to a chair far on the table to which I sat on. "For starters this is an ecological company; we plant trees, help in forest fires, make gardens beautiful, make the world of tomorrow a greener place" said someone. "but, he said that I'm the hope for this company...what did he meant?" I asked and they sighed, one got up and pointed to a map "we are losing the battle, the more we protect the more is destroyed" I tilted my head and saw that only part of America and japan were covered "why don't you guys expand to other countries and states" I said which made them stare at me "we have America, part of it, and it's the state who needs us the most" one explained, I shook my head "yeah, but I mean, other countries also need of help. Yeah expand your territory and you'll win" I said smiling and they clapped "Mister Hoshido was right about you" they began to cheer and make plans, Yukiteru took me out of the room and gave me a card "this is linked to the company's bank use as much as you need" he explained very quickly, "uh...thanks, but why didn't all of you think of it sooner?" I asked putting the card away. "They stared this company to make japan better, soon America noticed and asked for some help, but they didn't pay much attention to them" he said rubbing the back of his neck "that's just dumb, anyway good luck all of you" I said and bowed before walking away.

It was dark as I reached the house and everyone was there, but Kat and Jasmine had silver jackets on. "Uh....nice jacket gals" I said and sat next to Jasmine "thanks" Kat mumbled, Jasmine looked at me "she joined the hunters, and she only has a few hours before she leaves us" I sighed and then realized "wait... are you leaving too?" I asked frowning.

I had just made friends and they're leaving me so soon; Jasmine smacked me "I'm not, Artemis also gave me this Jacket, and she only has them in silver okay?" I smiled slightly and nodded "thats, nice of her?".

There was a few minutes of silence before Artemis, the wolf, came running in "well, we have a last quest and you'll need one of these" said Jasmine walking over to Artemis, four wolf pups came running in "since I like Brian better; he chooses first" I smirked at Jack and Kat and stuck my tongue out, I went to check the pups; they were all adorable, but the one in the back, it seemed lonely; guess I could relate "I want the one in the back" I said and Jasmine chuckled "the runt? Really?" I nodded and grabbed the pup, it had deep green eyes and midnight black fur, it barked at me happily "I like him ... her ... what is it?" Jasmine rolled her eyes "it's a she, now name her, and you two chose one" as they were doing that, the pup and I stared at each other. In her eyes in could see plants, trees, flowers, all sorts plant life, I smiled "you'll be known as Saria" the pup smiled and made a small yip. Kat got the silver one with blue eyes which she called Aoi, Jack got the slightly golden one with white eyes he was called Storm, and finally Jasmine got the gray pup with purple eyes she named him Ignis. everyone was happy, but then I heard a voice in my head "so ... Saria huh ... and you're Brian my human partner" it looked like it was coming from the pup "uh ... she talked" I said uneasy, Jasmine giggled and nodded "only their life partner can hear them, but anyway our quest is near, so jump on Artemis" with that everyone got on the wolf's back, she ran away from the house and in a flash we appeared in a snow covered placed with a cave in front of us.

"So, Artemis's mate was kidnapped by this giant and we have to save him; let's go" Jasmine said walking towards the cave with her bow in hand, her pup not falling behind. We looked at each other and shrugged. The cave is what you expected out of a cave, dark, hard, and hollow inside, strangely enough, there was only a huge rock. "there's no one here" Jack said jumping on the rock "that's weird, he should be here...." Jasmine squinted her eyes, she backed up and her eyes widened, she aimed at the rock shakily "get off!!" she yelled at Jack, which quickly jumped off. Right at that moment the rock shook and began moving "there he is!" said Jasmine shooting arrows, while flying up with Ignis on her shoulder, he was spiting fireballs at the rock, Kat got her sword ready; Aoi at her side, she looked like she was making a water whip from the condensation in the cave. Jack had his twin sais and Storm had ice chunks floating over him. the bident faded on my hand, I looked at Saria, she had vines and roots growing from the sides and ground of the cave. The giant got up roaring, we attacked what we could, but it didn't seem to work, not even the bident that cut off that Mantycore tail and a minotaur hand.

The giant was angered and swatted at Jasmine and Ignis making them crash into a wall and fall unconscious on the ground, I growled and started to stab its back, but it didn't pay attention to me, rather, his attention was locked on Kat.

Jack they tried to attack it, but before they knew it, they had been either punched or kicked. I could see over the giants shoulder, my friends were on the ground along with the pups, this, it was my dream, but I never knew how it ended. Saria was on my back and she bit my ear "move before he squishes us like a mosquito!!" she yelled in my head, I jumped away from the giant, as soon as we landed, Saria jumped off from my back and growled making more vines grow, I had my bident ready.

The giant turned and said "it's your turn to die boy " it swung at me and Saria, I did what any human would, and hugged Saria so we could move, but the giant was too quick, all I could do was hold Saria close to my chest, but, out of the corner of my eye I saw a blur... a silver blur.
