18. Flames of the Domains

A few days have passed since we left that cave, but I always go back to that small lump of dirt under a pine tree, I would kneel in front of it and keep saying the words "I'm sorry" over and over again. One day a figure wearing a black dress and veil placed it's hand on my shoulder and said "you could only save one of us. Stop beating yourself over it" I sighed and got up, "if I was faster then this would never happened" I said as tears rolled down my cheek, the figure removed it's veil and hugged me; it was the one I saved, The daughter of skies, Jasmine.

I hugged back smiling slightly, "thanks...for giving me a chance to actually get to know my prince in shining armor" she said which made me laugh "I'm hardly a prince and knowing my heritage I wouldn't have a shining armor" she rolled her eyes and smacked my head "don't ruin the moment Brian" we laughed for a few minutes as an iris message appeared in front of us, it was Raven looking sadly at me "um...Brian...we need to talk....alone" she said looking over at Jasmine, I looked at Jasmine, she nodded and flew up a tree "are you okay Raven?" I asked getting closer to the image, she shook her head and sighed "turns out... this quest will take longer... probably a life time. so... to be fair with you... it's....better to for us to...break up" she managed to say between sobs.

I felt how my heart fell down and my chest started to hurt, I was even fighting the tears in my eyes "w-why? is...this quest more important...than me....than us?" I asked as my knees shook, she started crying "i-it's not that... I just...I'm sorry" I sighed and nodded "if you think it's for the best...then I guess this is goodbye..." she nodded crying "goodbye...I love you" she managed, "I love you too, but guess that won't matter anymore" I said with tears rolling down my cheek "yeah.... it.....doesn't.... have a good life" she said with her eyes looking hard, "yeah you too Raven" I waved away the message and fell to my knees crying.

Jasmine quickly flew to my side and hugged me tightly "I heard everything Brian...I'm sorry" I could barely wrap my arms around her "I, loved he-" she cut me off and held my head "if it truly is love, then it'll find a way" she said smiling, her words, her touch, it somehow calmed me down. I nodded slowly and she smiled wider "c'mon we better head back to camp, think you can teleport us back?", I held her close and teleported at the lake in camp, I sat down and looked at the calm lake; it had no waves, no ripples, it was very calm. I could easily fall asleep; I was even closing my eyes, but Jasmine jumped on my lap and shocked my chin "don't you dare fall asleep or I'll make you toast" she said giggling.

I raised an eyebrow and stuck my tongue out, she giggled more and got up "come on, I'm bored" I nodded and got up, but we heard screams coming from the infirmary "that doesn't sound good, and you're slow, so we're flying" before I could even argue, she held me and flew off to the screaming.

She landed in the arena and what we saw was, Jack engulfed in flames cursing out at everything. Jasmine wanted to run in, but I saw a shadow move quickly, I held her hand tightly pulling her back, "what are you doing!?" she yelled, I placed a finger on my lips telling her to be quiet and then pointed to the shadow moving, she nodded. Soon the shadow emerged and made a figure laughing "you weakling, can't control my blessing; what a waste" said the figure as it gained some features; it was Lord Hades laughing at a glaring Jack "Hades!! Lift that blessing now!!" shouted Jasmine which made Hades turn his head and smirked "or what? you'll start a war for a simple soul?" Jasmine nodded smirking "of course, I would anything for a friend" Hades let out a hard chuckle "very well, have him control the flames or he'll die, and young lady I will have his soul, but you...I like that look in your eye" he said before looking at me and then huffed "you've taken a liking to my weapon boy, hope you don't die too soon. I have plans and I would love to see you in them" he said with an eerie grin before melting into a shadow.

I paled slightly, but I shook it off, both Jasmine and I ran to Jack who was panting "Brian....Jasmine....take my hand" he said as he weakly lifted his arms, we both held on to his hand.

Different colored flames made their way to our bodies surrounding us. The flames were harsh, it made us three scream in agony, but soon they faded away; Jasmine and I fell to the ground unconscious.

I jumped awake as Jasmine had screamed loudly, when I got up I saw her trying to put out some purple fire on her hand "Briaaann help me" she whined and I tried to hold her hand, right then, my own hand ignited in green and black fire, she was about to say something, but I cut her off and said "hey. It doesn't burn" she blinked and looked at her hand "yeah that's.... nice?" I shrugged and looked at Jack who was staring at us "Jasmine got heaven's fire; Brian got hell's fire, and I got..." he looked at his hands and sighed "Greek fire" he said disappointed, for some reason.

Jasmine and I shrugged "you can control it now, right?" she asked playing around with the fire, Jack nodded and walked away. I was about to say something, but I saw the flames on my hand traveled to my neck and made a Cerberus figure, Jasmine had the same thing happen to her but her figure was more like an eagle, we both looked at each other and chuckled, the figures faded away and Jasmine said "well I guess it's like a power mark?"

I shrugged "well now that this is settled wanna do something?" I asked and she smiled widely "let's go to the beach".
