"To answer your question pretty boy, I was just gonna welcome the new guy" the voice sounded soft and somewhat high, this person must be a girl, she slowly removed the dagger from my throat and walked in front of me revealing that it was in fact a girl who had the dagger "anywho welcome to camp half-blood, I'm Toria Nalani and you are?" She asked while putting the dagger away in her pant loop, "Brian, Brian Grey" I answered bowing slightly "you don't have to bow you know.... hey who's your godly parent? Since only demigods can walk through the gate".
Demigods, all I know from them is that they are part human and god. Never thought I could be one of them. "well this mark appeared over my head, and I said Hades so I guess he's my dad" after I said that, Toria grinned and shook my hand "a new brother then, let me show you the cabin" she held my hand tightly and began to run towards a dark wooden cabin, as soon as we walked in she took me to an empty bunk. "this spot isn't taken so you'll use it, just get settled in, most of our siblings are quiet" she smiled and walked out, I left my backpack on the bed and sat down next to it, as I looked around I saw kids from different ages, actually we were all different, we just some similar features like eyes, hair color and that pale tone onto our skin.
You know... I actually felt like I was special before getting here, my dad being a Greek god, me getting weapons and powers, even a hellhound to keep me company... but now I'm again one of the bunch, I don't doubt that Hades did the same to them when they were coming here... guess it can't be helped, I'll always blend into the background, but enough of this; this 'camp' is a new place for me, the least i could do is walk around.
Once I left my stuff on the bed, I walked out and started to look around "this place doesn't look that bad" i thought to myself as I walked around. this camp had many other cabins with different aspects to resemble a Greek god or deity, there was an arena, a forge, strawberry fields, stables, a race track and so on and so forth. It seemed that this camp has no end, but yeah there was many people around, I guess they knew how big to make this camp.
By the time I finally walked every inch of the camp, I seemed to found my way to a lake, I sat at the edge and looked at the waves crashing gently against the shore "this is the most quiet place I've found" I mumbled to myself laying down on the sand and looking at the stars, I started to call the names of a few constellations, but one had me puzzled, it seemed so odd, I had to get a stick and draw on the sand, after I was done drawing, it looked like an archer pointing to with an arrow, though I couldn't make out where it was pointing, it always seem to move whenever I looked up at it.
I kept staring at it, then I heard some footsteps, I groaned and looked over at where the noise was coming from, there was this guy with white hair and red eyes grinning at me; his teeth looked like razor sharp blades "so, you're the new guy everyone was talking about?" he asked "I wouldn't know, I tend to stay away from people" I answered, "uh huh. anyway I'm Josh son of thanatos god of death and shadows" he said proudly "and I'm just another son of Hades" I said while shrugging "well I came here to test you, so make a move" I looked at him dumbfounded and pulled out my bow "what exactly do you mean josh?" I wondered "I'm gonna test you to see if you are worth anything" I rolled my eyes at his so called test, but I saw a rather thick branch over him, with a smirk, I shot an arrow against it, making josh stare at me "I'm right here you know" he confirmed raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah but I wasn't aiming at you" that's when the branch fell down, but he swiftly moved out of its way, "nice one but you already lost" he said grinning from ear to ear, "what do you mean?" I asked as a sharp pain went up my back "See while I was moving from the tree branch, I infected your body with my shadow giving me complete control of your nervous system. Just say 'I give' and I'll let you go" I could only glare at him, I so wanted to kill him, but I knew better than that, so I sighed and mumbled "I give" he chuckled loudly "you're free now" he exclaimed. As angry as I was, I had to calm myself, with my teeth grinding against each other, I turned the bow into a ring and walked away not even looking back at the laughing Josh.
When I reached my cabin there was too many people already inside, I groaned and walked near the gate "guess I'll sleep up there" I said looking up at a tree, after a while, I managed to climb to a, not so fragile, branch for me to sit on, I leaned on the tree looking over the gate "so that's why Lassie couldn't cross..." I sighed softly and slowly fell asleep. The next morning I woke up from a sharp pain in my ear, I thought it was some bug, but then I heard the screaming of a girl, I glanced over at the noise and saw a girl running away from a pack of hellhounds, It looked like she would make it, but the hounds were so close that one actually bit her arm, causing her to scream in agony. I jumped down from the tree and ran her way, not caring if I knew her or not.
