Knockemstiff, Ohio.
The place Daisy Belle called home.

It wasn't much seen as her Pa, George only had a part time job at the gas station. Plus he liked his liquor and prostitutes. So Daisy took it upon herself to find a job, it was only a few hours a week filing paper work for a local lawyer.

She took any overtime that came her way and unfortunately the unwanted sexual attention.  all the young men in town called her Daisy D. Yes Dianna was her middle name after her Ma, but this was ment in more of a crude way. Daisy was as perfect as a picture. Her glowing skin and a figure to die for. She had lost track how many times she had to remind the men "my eyes are up here"

All but one man in town was rude to her. That man was sherif Lee Bodecker. Now Lee definitely had a soft spot for Daisy. Making sure she never walked home after a late night in the office.

Tonight was no different, he knew that blue gingham dress from anywhere. Daisy made all of her own clothes from what ever fabric she could find. Lee told her on so many occasions that she could make a living from it. She always smiles and denies her talents.

"Whatcha doing here all alone sugar? Hope you ain't waiting for a boy" lee asked sitting opposite her in the booth, placing his hat down on the table. It was late for her to be in the diner specially alone. "I don't date boys sherif, I date men" she commented with a smirk.

Swirling her straw in her half drank strawberry milk shake "anyway pa has, well company" she explained trying to be tasteful with her words. Her ma raised her to be a respect full young woman. One any man would want to make his perfect house wife. Lee couldn't help but fanaticise about her talking dirty.

How would she sound begging him not to stop or screaming his name. Thoughts of Daisy often appeared in his mind and plagued his dreams. "You should have come by the station Sugar, you know I don't like ya being out alone"

Daisy sighed knowing it was the truth. Her Pa and Lee were very protective after her Ma died. She was walking home from work, it was an accident. Or was it? They never did find who raped and killed Dianna Belle. Daisy was only eight years old when her ma passed.

"I know, but I also know ya have work to do. Thought I'd be safe in the diner" Looking up at the clock that hung above the door. It had been a good couple of hours since George's company had arrived. By the time Daisy would be home, george should be passed out with a bottle in his hand.

She hated the fact her father was sleeping with a different woman every other night. In the same bed he once slept with Dianna, Daisy thought it was disrespectful. She had been gone twelve years but, she was never forgotten by anyone.

"I best be on ma way sherif" Daisy stood up from her seat, brushing any creases out of her skirt. As she walked away she felt a blush creeping across her cheeks. She'd be lying if she said she didn't find the sherif attractive. Daisy didn't care that he was on the slightly larger side.

The way she saw it he was a big strong man to protect her. "I'll drop ya off, ya ain't walking home at this hour" lee called after her, grabbing his hat before he caught up with her in a few long strides.  "Thanks Lee" she smiled as he placed a hand on the small of her back. Leading her to his cruiser parked out front.

Lee was thanking god he got rid of that damn Pepsi cup before he found Daisy all alone. The ride back home was silent but not awkward. The radio playing softly in the background, Daisy hummed along every so often. But stopping as soon as she realised Lee could hear her. She hadn't sang sine Dianna died.

Pulling up to the shack she called home, all the lights were out. George was defiantly asleep and alone. Daisy sighed, not wanting to leave. She knew she was going to have to deal with her Pa with a hangover in the morning. And that wasn't a pretty sight. Luckily it was a Friday night so she didn't have work in the morning.

Reluctantly she opened the car door but, before she could exit Lee grabbed her wrist. Her head snapped towards him looking confused. Lee didn't want her to leave either, the fifteen year age gap was always stopping him. Plus look at her, why would a beautiful young lady was to date a man like him?

News flash! She does.

"Sugar" Lee spoke barely above a whisper, clearly nervous about the words that could fall out of him mouth. "Yes lee?" She asked, looking deep in his steel blue eyes. Her baby blue orbs sparking in the moonlight. Lee reached over and pushed a strand of her long auburn hair behind her ear.

She remind him of Dianna with each passing day as she grew in to a beautiful young woman.
"Did I mention you look beautiful?" He questioned, running him thumb over her cheek. It was taking all of his will power to not kiss her. She deserved to be taken in a date, to be treated like a princess. She deserved the world and Lee wanted to, no, was going to be the man to give it to her.

Daisy couldn't help but blush at his words. He always complimented her in some way and deep down she knew he meant it. He wasn't one of the local boys trying to get in her knickers. "Thank you, good night Lee" She pressed a kiss to his cheek. Her eyes going wide the moment she did. It took her by surprise that she had the courage to do it.

With out another word Daisy got out the cruiser and made her way inside the house. She couldn't face being rejected by the man she had a crush on.

Where as Lee on the other hand couldn't stop smiling like a manic.
