7pm the next night rolled around.
Daisy had a ride home with Lee, hoping no one would see her. She didn't tell Lee about her impending date, He would flip if he knew.
The front door opened making Daisy jump, it was only her Pa. "you ain't going out dressed like that" he commented walking towards her as she sat at the kitchen table. Busy re writing an important contacts book from the office.
Daisy ignored george, she had no intentions of going out tonight. The only place she'd be going if needs be was back to the station, to Lee. "Answer me when I'm talking to ya" He shouted slamming his hand in the table.
"You threw away a perfectly good job to work for that bastard. The least you can do is date Tommy" George explained walking closer to her. Daisy's hands shook in fear, she had never seen her pa act like this. Why was he so hell bent on her being with Tommy?
She wasn't interested in that boy or any boy for that fact. Her ma always taught her that one day the right man would come into her life.
George didn't know the real reason she had left her job. Ok this guy tried to rape her but she still saw the light side of every situation. She had a heart of pure gold. "Now go get dressed" he commanded pulling the book from her grasp.
To afraid to fight back she did what she was told, running off to her bedroom to change as fast as she could. Thinking she could slip away before... a knock at the door.
Too late he was already here. She wore the same blue gingham dress from the night lee first took her home. She knew Lee could spot her a mile away in it. Praying he could rescue her once again.
Without a word Daisy walked out of the house towards Tommy's car. Out the corner of her eye she saw him shake hands with her Pa. this date was obviously a set up, how else would George know she was suppose to be going out tonight? She never told a soul.
The ride into town was silent, she sat as close to the door as possible. Trying to keep a distance from him. "you look pretty Daisy D" Tommy broke the silence, god she hated that nickname. She defines preferred sugar. "Stop calling me that" mumbled Daisy under her breath.
Her gaze fixed on the streets outside. The car came to a stop as he parked right outside the diner. "Why? Prefer Mrs Johnson instead?" He asked with a smirk, taking a hold of her left hand. She snatched it away as fast as she could. "In your dreams" she spat, getting out the car.
Slamming the door closed as hard as she could. Now Daisy didn't like causing a scene but right now, she wanted as much attention as she could draw to herself. Maybe someone would step in and help her or better, call Lee.
Before she could walk away Tommy grabbed her arm, holding her tight. "Now you listen here you little bitch. You date me and your Pa gets to write off all his debts" he growled in her ear "so be a good girl or I will punish you" like the flick of a switch he smiled placing a soft kiss to her cheek.
She screwed her face up at the feeling of his lips on her skin. No wonder George was adamant on her going on this date. He used his own daughter to clear his debts, he didn't care about her happiness, only money. She sucked in a deep breath, keeping the tears from filling her eyes
The little gold bell rang as they entered the diner, juke box playing the latest hit. The boys sat around a table like a committee of vultures, Drooling over the poor young waitresses. Daisy wasn't in the mood for anything, she didn't order when they found a seat. Tommy didn't care they she didn't order.
Hell he didn't care about her, all he wanted was that image. The man with the perfect house wife and a steady job. She was trapped against the wall and Tommy in the booth. There goes her plan of using her dress as a distress signal.
Each time that bell rang her eyes snapped to the door, but it was never him. Typical this would be the one night he didn't come. Tommy's hand disappeared under her dress, running over her bare thigh. "No stockings? Well you are a naughty girl ain't ya?" He asked with a dark chuckle.
She tried to adjust her position but his grip held her leg in place. Her eye squeezed tight shut, His nose nudging at her ear and neck. Oh god if you can hear me please... "that ain't a thing to be done in public" that voice, oh thank god Lee!!
Daisy jumped at his voice, her eyes meeting his. Uh oh, he looks mad, this can't be good for either of them. " sorry sheriff, she was begging me for it" Tommy taunted, he knew how every man wanted to get there hands on Daisy. Anyway she'd only ever beg one man to touch her and he was standing right in front of her.
"Yeah, I bet she was" lee didn't sound convinced. The look on Daisy's face said it all, lee couldn't help but feel betrayed. People liked him as their sheriff but his love life? Women weren't exactly kind to him.
Don't get me wrong they would have a one night stand or a quick one in the parking lot but commitment? That's something no one was willing to do with him. "Anyway, I need you down at the station Daisy. Got some papers what need doing tonight" he explained.
A lie. Lee couldn't give a shit when the paper work was done and Daisy knew it. He maybe angry right now but he wasn't going to leave her alone with Tommy. Lee couldn't cope with a repeat of the other night again.
He woke up in the middle of the night, a nightmare about Daisy. She didn't realise how much he really cared for her. "I better get going" she spoke softly, shoving her way past Tommy, who tried his best to keep her in place.
She disappeared outside without another word "you stay away from her or else" lee threatened, but Tommy just laughed "why? Wanna add another victim to your list" he answered back. That hit a nerve.
Without responding Lee left like nothing was said.
"Get in" lee demanded, walking round the front of the cruiser. Daisy did what she was told, bundling her dress up so it didn't get caught in the door. She jumped when Lee slammed his door closed. "What the fuck was that huh?" Lee asked in a huff, sitting close to daisy. He reached over and locked the door from the inside. He wanted answers, and he wanted them now. "Lee I can explain" she spoke barely above a whisper.
She had never seen lee angry before. Okay that's a lie, she's seen him angry at other people not her. "Oh can ya now? Coz I'm gonna need to understand" he shouted, pinning her against the door. "Please stop shouting at me" Daisy begged, her eyes filling with tears. She thought he was different, that he really cared about her.
In this moment she wasn't quite sure. "Well I'm sorry for being angry at the woman to lied to me" lee scoffed, running his fingers through his hair "I didn't lie Lee" Daisy shouted back.
"No? So you said your interested in me but go on a date with someone else" explained lee, well it was exactly what it looked like, but Lee jumped to conclusions. He was ready to just give his heart away to this girl.He also thought she was different. A woman he could see himself settling down with and not just having sex. "I didn't want to!" Daisy blurted out in a scream "Pa forced me to go". She had never had an outburst like that before.
The last few days had taken there toll on her. She had learnt she needed a back bone and fast. No one was going to take advantage of her again. Lee's eyes widened as he realised he'd fucked up. "Sugar I'm sorry" he sighed.
Placing a hand on her cheek, to wipe away her falling tears. Daisy swatted it away before he could touch her skin. Sorry wasn't going to fix this. Loosing his shit at her for something she didn't do. She couldn't even look him in the eye anymore.
"I wanna go home, now Lee" she commanded, more tears falling down her cheeks
