Secrets were hard to keep in a town like knockemstiff. Everyone knew everyone's business.

Thank the lord Daisy worked for Lee, It was a little easier to keep their relationship quiet. Daisy stood out side of lee's office. She could hear him on the phone and didn't want to interrupt him.

She was about to walk away until she heard her name being mentioned.

"Her names Daisy"
"Oh she's beautiful ma, you'd like her"
"Don't worry she's an independent young woman"
"Well she's erm, she twenty one in a few months"
"No she is not with child, not yet anyway"
"I mean it ma! I ain't never felt this way about anyone before. I wanna marry that girl and have a family with her"
"I will I promise"
"And I love you too"

It was a shame she only heard one side of the conversation. She couldn't make up her mind about how Lees mother felt about the situation.

Daisy gently knocked on the door before entering, smiling like she hadn't heard anything. That her boyfriend of three weeks already wanted to marry her. I guess Lee had been slowly falling in love with her over the years, only pursuing her once she was of legal age.

"I'm just poppin to the store, ironically we're out of sugar" she chuckled, "why don't you give your old man some sugar before you go?" He asked with a smirk, tipping his head over the back of his chair "number one we ain't married, number two you ain't old and number three you never have to ask for a kiss" she explained, placing a soft kiss to his lips. Running her thumb over his cheek as she pulled away.

He rested his forehead against hers, "be safe" he whispered. She only gave a hum in response, tearing herself away from his body. Somehow the room became cold when his ray of sunshine left.

The store was only a short walk from the station. One of the boys offered to drive her down, she said she had to keep her figure this snap some how. Since being with lee she had grown in confidence, blossoming in to her own person. Not being what her pa and society expected her to be.

On her walk back, a hand slipped around her waist. With out even looking she knew who it was. "Go away Tommy" she growled. His touch was harsh unlike lee's soft and caring touch.
"That ain't no way to talk to your future husband" he smirked, pulling her side closer to his.

She tried to pull away from him with out trying to draw any attention to them. Last thing she wanted was someone to call the sheriff over a (none existent) domestic."The only thing you'll be in my future is none existent" she scoffed, prizing his hand from her waist.

Before she could make her escape, Tommy grabbed her arm pulling her back to him. Her chest flushed to him "Don't you remember our little chat honey?" He questioned with a raised brow "You marry me and all your problems go away" .

God he didn't understand what the word no meant did he? Dianna always taught her that no is a full sentence. And there was no way in hell she was going to marry him. No matter what he offered the answer would still be no.

Her father got into this mess, so he could get out of it with out her help. "Over my dead body" she spat jerking her hand away from him. Walking away before he had the chance to grab her again.

She quickly had to think of a reason why it took her a little longer than usual at the store. The story has to be believable, lee could see straight through her. Taking a deep breath to gain her composure, before she entered the station.

It looked like a ghost town. Lee's office door was wide open meaning he wasn't in the building. Daisy let out a breath she didn't realise she was holding. "You ok Daisy?" Deputy Collins asked from behind the main desk.

She jumped, placing a hand on her chest. "Jesus Christ!" She exclaimed, he didn't mean to scare her, after all he was right in front of her. "You look like you've seen a ghost" he explained, leading her over to chair.

She sat down like she was told "I'm fine" she smile, one of the biggest lies she has told. She wasn't fine. Being forced in to a relationship she didn't want, not having anyone she could confide to.

It all got too much, she burst into tears. They rolled thick and fast down her cheeks, dragging her make up down with them. Deputy Collins got on his knees in front of her, pulling her into a hug.

She sobbed against his chest not able to form any words. "You can talk to me Daisy" he tried to reassure her, pulling back to see her tears starting to slow. She took in a deep breath, attempting to brush a stray hair behind her ear. But she couldn't stop shaking.

"How about we get you a nice cup of tea then we can chat?" He asked, deputy Collins was always the kindest towards her. He had a young daughter of his own, his only child. He understood how her father could be so protective over her.

She gave a weak smile and a nod. "Atta girl!" He smiled placing a hand on her shoulder. She felt like she could really trust the deputy. Not only did she feel safe just being in the station alone with him.

Daisy also felt like she could tell him anything.

And everything.
