Murder.
That's was the conclusion of George's death.
There was no sign of a break in or a struggle.
Of course they couldn't find any evidence linking to who ever did this.It was common knowledge that George was in debt up to his eye balls.
Someone must have had enough of waiting for their money back.A bullet between the eyes,
A loan sharks signature messageDaisy stayed with lee while they investigated the crime. Even after the body was removed, Lee didn't want her in that house just in case who ever did this came back. She never did go look at that house, she felt like she didn't need to now her pa was gone.
One night in bed, Daisy rested her head on his chest. Listening to his heart beating steady. "Ya sure this is ok Lee?" She asked out of the blue. Lee furrowed his brows glancing down at her " why wouldn't it be?" He questioned.
An hour ago he asked Daisy to move in with him fully. She was hesitant on her answer but said yes. Daisy didn't want to be living in her own, not now anyway.
"Well we ain't married" she stated looking up at him. She was still a traditional girl, the locals talked enough about her behind her back. "So what if we're not? Can't have my girl on the streets now can I?" He questioned holding her tight.
He did have a point. George didn't leave anything to Daisy except the house. Once she had sold it and paid off his debts there wasn't going to be much left for her. She'd have to sell everything inside the house too.
It was going to be no life for a twenty one year old. Yes she still had her savings but, knowing her luck there would be a heavy interest on the money george owed. Lee pulled her closer to his chest.
"How about you and I go away for a weekend huh?" He asked out of the blue, Daisy looked up at him. Smiling like a maniac "I'd love that Lee". She had been itching to leave knockemstiff ever since their first date.
"I'll take you back tomorrow so you can pack" he began "once were home you can look at selling the place". Daisy loved how Lee always had a plan for everything. "Perfect" she smiled.
Daisy leaned through the drivers side window to give Lee a sweet kiss, "I'll pick you up later"he explained before leaving her at that house. Lee promised that the boys had cleaned up the blood the best they can. He didn't want her to whiteness that mess, honestly seen that made him want to throw up.
She took a deep breath before opening the front door. "The whore returns!" A voice taunts from behind her "your pa's dead and you jump straight into his bed" okay what the hell was Maggie's problem?!
Daisy bit the inside of her cheek, trying to prevent anything offensive coming out of her mouth. She couldn't believe how Maggie had changed since lee had come into her life. This woman was like a mother to her.
Now she was acting like the queen bitch towards Daisy. "All because I have a man who loves me and you don't, doesn't give you a free bitch pass" Daisy spat slamming the front door behind her.
Her hands shook, her breathing quickened. The home she once knew in ruins. Who ever did this was covering their tracks or looking of something valuable. She took a deep breath as a lone tear ran down her cheek.
Never in a million years did she think this is how she would be leaving this house. She walked over to the stairs like a horse wearing blinkers, too afraid to look around. She believed lee when he said the boys had already cleaned up, but she knew first hand how hard blood was get out.
Her room was untouched, the plant sitting on her window ledge dead. She sighed at the crusty black petals that had fallen onto the floor. But it was okay it could be replaced. Unlike the memory's of this place.
Daisy shook her head and got to work. Dragging her suit case form under her bed and started filling it. She had no idea what to pack, Lee never specified where they were to be going. Didn't stop her from being excited. Her first holiday ever and she got to spend it with the man she loved.
Next thing she knew a voice was calling her from down stairs "ready to go Daisy?", she glanced up at the clock 5pm. The day had flown by, she ended up packing her entire room ready for when she returned. One less job to do I guess.
She heard lee's heavy foot steps travel up the stairs to collect her case. It's felt very light to him, maybe a little too light. She could just be a light packer. He didn't really care, aslong as Daisy was by his side and safe.
