(This story starts when Phil is traveling to Techno's house to talk about Tommy. Sorry about the time being kinda messed up a bunch here and there!)
Dream was getting impatient. Too impatient... Oh well! It was only one night! He bet Tommy would come to him on his own after only a day! Despite this thought, Dream went out in search for the young boy the next day, hoping to find him soon.
First day. Just because he didn't find him didn't mean he wouldn't find him soon.
Two days. There are not many places to hide, he probably was in a cave or whatever.
Three days. Where was he?!
Four days. There's only one place left...
Dream was getting desperate, so despite hating the bitter wind brought by the snowy hell, he decided to attempt to search for Tommy there.
As Dream trudged through the painfully numbing snow, he wondered how Techno had even survived there for more than a day. This is the lengths he was going to just for Tommy. The boy was important for his plans, no doubt, but he was truly the only person Dream would ever do that for. Honestly, he would've done it even if the boy wasn't too important for his plans. The truth was, he was a bit obsessed.
It wasn't in a romantic way of course. (Please, please, please, don't take it in a romantic way!) It was just that Dream loved hearing his desperate apologies, his pleas for Dream to stay, his dull eyes with only a hint of emotion left in them. That emotion always being, to Dreams intense joy, fear. Okay, maybe Dream wasn't just a bit obsessed.
Dream was about to continue his thoughts when he saw Techno's house. He must've subconsciously wandered there. He didn't feel like talking to Techno in English or "the Universal Language," so he decided to leave as quietly as he could. He started to walk past the house when he heard someone coming. He hid behind a snow coated bush as the distant footsteps grew nearer. He peeked out to see...
...Phil?!
What was Phil doing there?! He shouldn't have been allowed to do this. He probably wasn't. He watched as the winged man knocked on the door and, a few moments later, entered the house. Dream was intrigued. Why did Phil want to visit Techno? Dream decided he'd find out. He'd find Tommy soon. He was just taking a slight detour.
Dream found the window of the room Phil and Techno were in and strained his ears for anything important. He couldn't tell who was saying what, but he did get little scraps of the conversation.
"...with Tubbo and Ranboo"
"...still in exile"
"...sneaked in...Tubbo...risk Dream... "
Dream was already piecing things together when he heard exactly what he was looking for.
"...Tommy's in Manburg"
Those simple words brought a horrific smile on Dream's face under his mask. It had finally made sense after he heard it all. It seemed that Tommy ran away to Manburg to find his old friends. Tubbo was afraid of Dream making him choose between giving Tommy or war because he knew he wouldn't give up Tommy. That's why he didn't just simply un-exile Tommy. Tubbo thought that if he didn't let anyone know that Tommy was in Manburg, war wouldn't break out.
Tubbo had underestimated Dream. The strategy Tubbo was thinking of wasn't thought out and would never work. If Dream took hold of Tommy through the "war" strategy, Tommy would feel like a prisoner and when his friends would come to save him, he wouldn't hesitate to go with them. No, Dream was not going to do that. What he was going to do was much, much worse.
