Karl walked up to the weeping family, knowing exactly what he'd have to do in the near future.
"Don't worry, this story isn't quite done just yet," Karl stated calmly.
Technoblade looked at him with cold crimson eyes.
"Leave Karl," He responded.
Karl sighed, "I'm going to have to explain everything from the beginning, won't I?"
Technoblade didn't answer.
"I'll give you the rest of the night to collect yourselves," He said, gesturing to everyone around him, "Then, we need to talk."
And so he gave them the night. They buried Tommy's body and the large group entered Techno's cottage once more. The group cleaned themselves up and stayed for the night. Karl didn't know whether they were actually allowed to or Technoblade was just so tired that he really couldn't care. Either way, this worked out in Karl's favor, for he needed to talk to all of them about something important, and preferably only once.
Karl slept in the living room like basically everyone else except those who actually had a room in the cottage and those who had claimed the extra room. Karl fell asleep quickly, as he always did, knowing fully he wouldn't have a dreamless night...
And he, of course, was right.
That night, he had a dream that the Goddess of Death decided to use as an opportunity to speak with him.
"Hello, Karl Jacobs," Kristen greeted.
"Hello, Angel of Death," He responded, kneeling on one knee.
"As I said before Karl, there is no need for such formalities! You do not need to bow before me and you can just call me Kristen!" The god exclaimed kindly.
"Ok... Kristen," He responded shyly, standing up again.
"Well, I understand you know what you must do, correct?" Kristen asked.
"Yes, but you know that there are limits," He answered.
"Well, of course there are limits... But as long as you don't use the book for too long you'll be fine!" She exclaimed, "But seriously Karl, if the worst comes to pass, and Dream XD holds you and your allies back for too long, then I want you to go back. The mortal is important to me, but I don't want to trade one life for another, understood?"
"I don't mind death-" Karl began.
"But I do. It pains me to see poor souls drifting into my post. And you know what will happen if you die, right?" She asked.
Karl didn't answer.
"You already know what your personal limbo would be," She said softly.
"A lot of people care about Tommy. If I end up in the limbo's copy of the in-between just to save him, then so be it," Karl responded firmly.
"Please don't walk yourself to Death's, well my, door! I do not wish for you to die! Promise me you won't risk death!" Kristen exclaimed.
"I'll try my best..." Karl replied quietly.
"Promise?" Kristen asked.
"I'm not exactly the best with promises," Karl admitted uneasily.
"Please?" Kristen asked.
"Fine, I... promise," He replied reluctantly.
And with that, everything faded to black. Karl opened his eyes to realize he was still on the floor of Technoblade's cottage. He slowly got up and looked around. It seemed everyone was still asleep and it was definitely dawn.
Perfect, now he had some time to reinforce the area.
Hey everyone!!! Yea, I decide to make Mumza and Karl reeeealy vague on what they were talking about, though a lot of you guys can probably figure out what's happening! Sorry for the short chapter btw! Well, see you soon!
